Think before you print Use digital before printing hard copies Dont print hard copies that you may not need Print on both sides of the paper Only buy/ rent copiers which can print on both sides of the paper and can print more than one page per side of paper 6. Encourage paperless meetings (make use of laptops where possible) 7. Keep track of your departments paper usage (try to decrease it) 8. Have recycle points at the printers/ copiers to encourage people to recycle 9. Each person to have a tray for scrap paper which they can use for notes etc 10. Change default settings on computers to print double sided and increase the page margins to fit more onto a page 11. Use print preview to ensure you are happy with your document before you print it 12. Do not have a fax cover sheet unless it is really necessary 13. Use fonts such as arial and times new roman as they are more efficient taking up less space and in a font size no bigger than 10 (reader permitting) 14. Ensure that they copier/ printer is serviced/ maintained to avoid excessive printing due to re prints (low toner poor quality print etc) 15. Use thinner paper (100gsm uses and costs 20% more than 80gsm you could even go to 50gsm) 16. Reduce unwanted mail coming to your office (unsubscribe/ return to send as unwanted) 17. Reuse paper wherever possible (the back of the page if unprinted) 18. Buy recycled paper 19. Do not print emails out unless you have to (same for all documents) 20. Use CPL light bulbs, especially in places where the light will be one for more than 2 hours 21. Turn your computer off at the plug, a computer which is on and unused uses nearly as much power as when you are working on the computer 22. Use natural light before switching on lights 23. Turn lights off when you leave your office 24. Turn off your air conditioner when you leave the office 25. Make use of windows before using an air conditioner 26. Bring your own coffee mug/ travel mug to work if you use Styrofoam cups at work or disposable cups 27. Bring your own lunch to work packed in a Tupperware (reduces foil/ plastic etc being brought from home or being bought as a take away) 28. Make use of conference call facilities before travelling somewhere (flights)

29. Make use of email/ telephone facilities before travelling somewhere (driving) 30. Form a work car pool, or better yet walk or cycle to work (saving you money and the environment) 31. Make use of a multiplug to make it easier to turn one switch off 32. Try and make use of green suppliers as much as possible with everything that you buy (i.e. eco friendly cleaning products, paper, electronics) 33. Recycle wherever possible (ink cartridges, paper, plastic etc) 34. Recycle or donate your old unwanted electronics (cellphones, computers, printers etc) 35. Educate your employees about being environmentally conscious 36. Buy energy efficient electronics when buying new 37. Report water leaks to centre management 38. If choosing between a laptop and desktop computer, opt for a laptop as they are far more energy efficient
