XII of September of 1692 NEWS OF THE DAY:

A letter from Nohely Abreu, a woman who has been accused of witchcraft. She asks for the help of well-known doctor , Mario Brito. Hollywoods black list in the year 1954 A little tour of Salem from our travel agent.

Dear Mario Brito, Mario, dear old friend, I come to you during this time of great need. I have been accused of witchcraft! Can you believe this madness?! Everyone in Salem has gone mad, mad I tell you! You know me very well, and you know that I have never done any sort of witchery, and you know damn well how much I love God. Katrina Goodman, the one that went to school with us has also been accused of witchcraft. Can you imagine a more pure soul being accused of witchcraft? I think not. I know all this may be confusing so Ill tell you what has happened in Salem ever since you went on to becoming a big name doctor in that fancy city you always talked about. For some time now, there has been word going around Salem that the Devil is inquiring more followers in this town. And when word started to spread, so did the accusations of witchcraft. Most of our old neighbors have been accused of some sort of trafficking with the devil; some have even been accused of flying. Can you believe that? Such a respectable person as yourself would surely know that flying is impossible, and cannot be accomplished by humans. It just doesnt make sense. I was accused by Ruth Beltronship, the girl who we used to play with as kids, of witchcraft. She accused me of sending my spirit to her and making her buy the crops from me even though the crops werent ready to be eaten. She said that because she bought these crops her husband got ill and smacked her because he blamed her. This is completely absurd; you know that I would never want to hurt anyone. This is what has led me to believe that the devil isnt really roaming around Salem, I think whats really roaming around is the need for vengeance and someone to blame. Mario I am being starved here, I am awaiting my final trial; where Ill be sentenced to jail or be hanged. Dont let me die in such a cruel way. I am being treated like an animal in this cell; I share this small cell with 15 other women who have been accused of witchcraft by people who despise them. You are much respected in this town Im sure you can try to convince them about my innocence. Theres a reverend here who is constantly telling me to just confess. He says that if I do my life will be spared, but I know that if I do, I will still be left to rot in jail. And if I dont I will surely be hanged within three weeks. You are the only one that can help me, so I ask please, please come and help me. I beg you. I hope to be seeing you within a few days. Be my savior. Sincerely, Nohely Abreu
