When

you are finished with your Final Cut project, you will want to export your Sequence as a QuickTime Conversion. Make sure you highlight the sequence as shown below.

Click File then select Export using QuickTime Conversion. In the window that opens, you will name your movie and tell it where to save, but dont click save yet. Next you will click on the Options button.

This will open the Movie Settings window.

In this window you will uncheck the box that says Prepare for Internet Streaming. Then click on the Settings button for Video.

There are many different settings that can be chosen in the window below, and sometimes you will need to do trial and error when attempting to compress to a certain file size, but we will be using a common setting that will work for the projects you will be doing in class. Depending on the prior settings used by another student, you may see the settings shown below, or others.

Use the settings that you see in the screen below.

Make sure you have the same settings as above, and then click OK. This brings you back to the Movie Settings window. Now click on the Size button. Here you can change the dimensions of your movie.

Change the dimensions from Compressor native to the setting in the next window.

Then click OK. Once back at the Movie Settings screen, you can make changes to the audio if it is needed.

The above settings are good but if you need to make a change, click on the settings button and make the needed changes and then click ok. Now click the OK button at the bottom of the Movie Settings window and then click the Save button. The next window to open will show you that your movie is being compressed and about how long it will take.

When this window disappears, your movie is done. You can now go to where you saved it and check the size and make sure that it plays properly. Note: The settings used here may not be what your professor wants. Make sure you know what is expected and use those setting. The procedure is the same.
