All India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Entrance Examinations(AIEEE) is an entrance examination for admission in engineering/architecture bachelor courses throughout most of the engineering/architecture institutes across the country. Admission in all the National Institute of Technology(NITs) as well as most of the state level institutes and private institutes happens through AIEEE. Therefore AIEEE is the most popular engineering Entrance examination for BE/BTech aspiring students across the country. Last time nearly 9 lakh students appeared for AIEEE. AIEEE is considered to be highly competitive exam for those aspiring to get admission in NITs or other top colleges. Therefore students start preparing for it much before the actual entrance examination. AIEEE is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) therefore the syllabus of AIEEE is from CBSE class 11th and 12th syllabus.

Moreover the number of questions was reduced so that the attempt ratio of the students could increase but this was compensated by the increase in question difficulty. Given below is the cutoff list for AIEEE 2007 examination so that you can make out what to expect from this years examination

All Inia Engineering Entrance Examination is the only entrance examination (for engineering) which is conducted on a very huge scale (in terms of footfall) and has a large number of colleges considering its score and rank. AIEEE has some the finest institutes for engineering like NITs under it which comes at the level of any IIT. AIEEE examination consists of questions from 3 different subjects that are Physics, Chemistry and Maths. Each section consists of 35 questions and the total paper is of 315 marks (+3 for correct answer, -1 for wrong answer).
Here are some tips that would help you crack AIEEE: Use logical shortcuts:- While attempting the paper specially numerical and maths section where you need to solve higher calculus, always go for logical estimations which reduces the level of calculation and helps you solving the questions fast. Attempting all sections:- AIEEE rank is based on marks scored in all three sections, so it important to attempt all sections. Emphasis on speed:- AIEEE is an exam which demands a good question attempting speed. While preparing for AIEEE always focus on your speed that is the time spent over solving a question. Through regular practice try to increase your speed. Solve last year papers:-AIEEE previous year papers are very important while preparing for it because many a times there are questions which are repeated from the previous year papers. AIEEE is among the most popular exam among the students who wish to do engineering and architecture courses. The number of seats offered by AIEEE is also quite huge but the number of applicants is also very large, thereby making the competition tougher. Given below is the list of recommended books for AIEEE examinations. The list contains the names of many books, you need not study all, you can chose from the books below to prepare for the examination.

Edward The All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), is an examination organized by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India. Introduced in the year 2002, this national level competitive test is for admission to various under-graduate engineering and architecture courses in institutes accepting the AIEEE score, including 20 prestigious NITs.[1] Students opting for B.Tech. are tested in physics, mathematics and chemistry. The test duration is 3 hours but maximum marks and the number of questions vary every year. However equal weightage is given to all the three sections. Students opting for B.Arch. are tested in mathematics and an aptitude test. It is held in the final Sunday of April and results are announced near the end of May. Candidates are ranked on an all India basis and also according to their position in state. Thus, they have an All India Rank (AIR) and a state rank (SR). In 2009, around 9,62,000 candidates appeared for the AIEEE across 1460 centers across India and in international centers set up at Dubai and Riyadh[2] Though nearly one million students write the exam only a quite few percentage of students are eligible for central counselling or state-specific or category-specific counselling on basis of their AIR. Counselling for SC/ST candidates and SC/ST physically handicapped candidates is done on the first two days. Then the physically handicapped in the Open (OP) category are counselled.Due to large number of students writing aieee it has become more competitive than iit-jee at least quantitatively.
[edit] Future
Reposing Faith in organisational capacity and technical infrastructure of the NIT system the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has decided to entrust the task of conducting the AIEEE to NITs themselves starting from 2008-09 session itself. Earlier, the counselling procedure was dealt by a Central Counselling Board (CCB) based at New Delhi. The important decision to this effect was taken by the MHRD on the advice of the NIT Director's meeting who had unanimously advocated transferring of the responsibility for CCB of AIEEE counselling to NITs. Every year director of a NIT will be the chairman of the CCB along with the selected directors of other institutes in the counselling board. The NITs will conduct the counselling and assume the responsibility of setting question papers as well from the year 2010. Similar to the conduct of the IIT-JEE and counselling by one of the six IITs in the country every year on a rotation basis, one among the 20 NITs in the country would be made a nodal agency for the conduct of AIEEE every year. aieee
