A CINDERELLA STORY

Once upon a time in a far away kingdom, there lived a lovely young girl by the name of Cinderella. Cinderella lived with her stepmother and two stepsisters, Anastasia and Drizella. The stepmother spoiled her own two daughters with fancy clothes and anything else the wanted, but she treated little Cinderella very badly, giving her only ragged clothes to wear and making her work like a servant in her own house. SCENE 1 Narrator King : One day at the castle, the king was complaining again to the Grand Duke. : Its high time my son married and settled down. I want grandchildren!

Grand Duke : These things take time. The prince hasnt found the right girl. Narrator King care of it. : Finally the king had an idea. : Well throw a ball, and invite every eligible maiden in the kingdom. You take

SCENE 2 Narrator : A little later, a messenger delivered an invitation to Cinderella s house.

Stepmother : By royal command, every eligible maiden is to attend the ball. Cinderella : Why, that means I can go too!

Stepmother : I suppose so, as long as you finish all your work. (Giving Cinderella a long list of work to do) And if you can find something to wear! (As Cinderella rushed out excitedly) Cinderella Drizella : Im sure I can. : Mother, do you know what you just said?

Stepmother : Of course. I said if. Drizella & Anastasia : Oh . If(both girls laugh)

SCENE 3 Narrator Cinderella Cinderella Narrator : In her room, Cinderella looked through an old trunk and pulled out a dress. : Isnt it lovely? It was my mothers. : Ill have to shorten the sleeves..Ill need a sash. : But before she could begin, she heard her sister calling. : Cinderella, Cinderella!!

Drizella & Anastasia Cinderella

: Oh, well, guess my dress will just have to wait.

Narrator : Cinderella was delighted with her dress. But when she showed it to her stepsister, they were not so pleased. Anastasia Drizella : Those are my beads. : And my old sash.

Narrator : They tugged and ripped at Cinderellas lovely dress until it was nothing but rags. Then the two of them flounced off to the ball with their mother, leaving Cinderella sobbing in the garden.

SCENE 4 Narrator : Suddenly, Cinderellas Fairy Godmother appeared. : Dry those tears. You cant go to the ball looking like that! : Now, what about you? Good heavens. You cant go in that! : Again, she waved her wand and chanted a magic spell. : Bibbidi, Bobbidi, Bibbidi, Bobbidi, Bibbidi, Bobbidi, Boo! : At that, Cinderellas torn dress turned into a ball gown.

Cinderella : Ooh, have you ever seen such a beautiful dress? And look! Glass slippers! Why, its like a wonderful dream come true. Fairy Godmother : Yes, my child. But like all dreams, Im afraid this cant last forever. You only have until midnight.

SCENE 5 Narrator : At the ball, the young prince had already been introduced to a number of young ladies, but he showed no interest in any of them. King : What wrong with that boy? Hes not cooperating!

Grand Duke : these plan never work in real life.

Narrator : Just as Drizella and Anastasia curtsied before the prince, Cinderella entered the ballroom. The prince caught sight of her and from that moment, he couldnt take his eyes off her. He hurried to Cinderella, bowed and asked her to dance. King : Ha !! Look at that! My plan seems to be working wonderfully. Now have the orchestra play a waltz and make sure no one disturbs them! Narrator : All evening, the prince danced with the beautiful girl in the glass slippers, ignoring everyone else in the hall. Who can she be ? Everyone wondered. Stepmother : Theres something familiar about her.. Narrator : She tried to follow the dancing couple onto the balcony. The Grand Duke however blocked her path. As Cinderella and the prince sat in the garden, the clock began to strike midnight. Cinderella Prince : Oh No ! I have to go right now! : Please come back ! I dont even know your name! How could I find you?

Narrator : But Cinderella knew she had not a second to spare and ran from the palace. She didnt even stop when one of her last slippers fell off on the palace steps, for the Grand Duke was right behind her, yelling. Grand Duke : Young lady, wait! Senorita! Oh dear ! What will I say to the King? Narrator : Just as the last stroke of midnight sounded, the spell ended.

SCENE 6 Narrator dress. : Cinderella found herself sitting by the side of the road, dressed in her ragged

Cinderella : Oh dear, I guess I forgot about the time ! But it was so wonderful. And I danced with the most handsome young man! Im sure even the Prince himself couldnt have been more wonderful

SCENE 7 Narrator : At the castle, the prince vowed he would marry no one but the mysterious owner of the glass slipper. So the king ordered the Grand Duke to search the kingdom far and wide until he found the girl who fit the glass slipper. King Narrator Cinderella : Try it on every maid in the kingdom. : in no time at all, the news of search reached Cinderellas house. : My goodness, I was dancing with prince.

Narrator : She could hardly believe her good fortune. But when she went to her room to tidy up for the Grand Dukes arrival, her stepmother locked her in and pocketed the key.

Cinderella

: Please! You cant do this!

Stepmother : Hurry ! There is still a chance that one of you can marry the prince. The slipper is their only clue! Narrator : When the Grand Duke and his footman arrived, the sisters immediately started arguing over the slipper. Stepmother : You first, Anastasia. Narrator : Anastasia pushed as and squeezed, but could barely fit half her foot.

Grand Duke : Enough. The next young lady !

SCENE 8 Narrator : Downstairs, Drizella was having no better luck squeezing her foot into the glass slipper, no matter how hard she tried. Finally, the Grand Duke lost his patience. Grand Duke : That will be quite enough. You are the only ladies of the household? I hope ..er ..I presume? Stepmother : Theres no one else, your grace. Narrator : But just as the Grand Duke and his footman, were preparing to leave, Cinderella appeared on the stairway. Cinderella : Your grace! Your grace ! May I try it on ?

Stepmother : Pay no attention to her. Drizella Anastasia : Thats just our kitchen maid. : Its ridiculous. Shes out of her mind!

Grand Duke : Madam, my order were, every maiden. Narrator : But as the footman dashed across the room with the slipper, the stepmother tripped him with her cane. The slipper flew off the pillow and smashed into a thousand pieces. Grand Duke : Good heavens ! This is terrible ! What will I tell the king? Cinderella pocket) : Perhaps this will help (Cinderella pulls out the other glass slipper out of her

Narrator : The Grand Duke himself took the slipper and slid it onto Cinderellas foot. And it fit perfectly.

And so Cinderella and the prince were married. Everyone in the kingdom was invited to the wedding, even the birds and mice. Cinderella and her prince lived happily ever after. -THE END-
