Guardian HB has been engineered to have similar expansion characteristics as base tool joint steel. This enables both materials to flow without developing high residual stress or visible cracking. As compared to conventional hardband materials, Guardian HB does not sacrifice either hardness or toughness to achieve these properties. NanoSteel has designed an alloy with its patented nanotechnology that maintains high performance of both properties. Dye penetrant testing shows how NanoSteels patented nanotechnology allows Guardian HB to provide long life and efficient tool joint performance.
