Step 1 Creating user account To get your student ID card, access to: the University College of Finnmarks (UCF) computer network, student PCs and the wireless network, you first need to create your user account. Go to www.hifm.no and select "MinSide" in the upper right corner. Then click on English Version" in the menu on the right. Then click on the Register User Account button, also in the right menu. Choose English language. You can also use computers in the main hall (glassgata) to create the account. Enter your ID number (Norwegian social security number) and your last name. Follow the instructions on the screen. Finally, print out the information so you remember your user name and e-mail address. Please note: If you do not know your Norwegian social security number or have trouble creating your user account, please visit the Study Office behind the Service Centre or call (+47) 78 45 05 05. You can also contact the IT Office, take right just before the furthest entrance opposite the bookstore, or call them at (+47) 78 45 02 10. Your user account provides you with access to the UCF's intranet-portal. There youll find your e-mail account, Fronter, Studentweb and library services. Besides you can store documents securely on UCF's server. You need to have a user account to access the wireless network at UCF. Information from UCF will be sent to your student e-mail. It is important that you check this e-mail address through your entire study period. Step 2 - Semester registration The semester registration is done via the StudentWeb. Click on the MinSide button. You start with logging into UCF's intranet-portal (upper right corner of the homepage). Click on log in button on the right hand side. Use your username and password from Step 1. Go to the StudentWeb in the upper menu. You will be asked to log in again. Semester registration consists of three steps: education plan part 1, -part 2 and address. First select English language, then "Registrations" and Sem.reg/individual education plan in the left menu. Then follow the recognition sequence for the education plan part 1, -part 2 and address. Remember to press "OK" before proceeding to the next step. To ensure that UCF always has the correct contact information, you should check and possibly update the information we have on your student page. It is very important that you provide us with your correct mobile number because information can be distributed via SMS in addition to other channels. Remember to press "OK" if you make any changes.

Step 3 - Pay semester fee (exchange students can skip this step) As a student at UCF, you must pay a fee to UCF (HIF) and to the Student Welfare Organization (SIF). The fee is to be paid twice a year, for the fall semester and spring semester. Some studies also require material fees (this emerges from course description). Deadline for payment of the fee is the 1st of September for the fall semester, and the 1st of February for the spring semester. You will find payment information in the StudentWeb by clicking on the "Payment"button in the left menu. There you will find information about the fees that are included in the invoice, customer identification number, account for payment and amount. Note that it is not possible to change the payment amount. Fees to UCF (HIF) and SIF need to be paid before you can take examinations at UCF (HIF). If you dont pay the fee within deadline you will loose the right to study, and access to your user account. The fee can be paid via bank, internet banking or at the Service Centre (Servicetorget). Step 4 Get student ID card Please note: You NEED TO have fulfilled steps 1-3 before you can receive a student ID card! Sessions to get your photograph taken and ultimately your student ID card issued, are being hold right next to the main entrance on the right hand side. Bring a valid identification (bank card, driver's license or passport). If youve been photographed before and already have a student ID card, you do not need to get your picture taken again. The student ID card is issued right after youve been photographed. Remember to bring with you a receipt for paid semester fee when you pick it up. Student ID card costs 100, - NOK and that amount is to be paid only once for the entire study period. If you loose your card you have to pay 100, - NOK for a new one. Student ID card is a proof of your student status and serves as key card, library card and identification for all students admitted to UFC. The card gives you access to UFCs buildings in Alta from 07.30 until 00.00 during weekdays.
