Boones Creek Baptist Association Serving, Encouraging and Supporting Christs Churches

Bro. John Ryder-Director of Missions Angel Kane, Secretary Floyd & Gale Holbrook-Camp Manager Office (859) 744-0037 Fax (859) 744-1069 E-mail: boonescreekbapti@bellsouth.net Web-Site-www.boonescreekbaptistassoc.com Printed May. 2012, Volume 45, issue 5 Deadline for next Issue: June. 15, 2012

A note to you, On June 18, Boone's Creek Baptist Camp opens its doors to another camp season for our association's children and youth. We have been doing this for 58 years. Why do we continue? We want to be a part of leading young people to Christ. We have camp programs that are aimed at leading the young campers to Christ. The cost per camper for association churches is $110.00 per week. We have limited scholarship money available for those who cant afford to send their child to camp. Call the association office or go on-line to www.boonescreekbaptistassoc.com for applications. The schedule for 2012 is as follows: Boys Week, 7-14: June 18-22 Girls Week, 7-14: June 25-29 Sr. Co. Ed. Week, 14-17: July 9-13 Jr. Co. Ed., 7-14: July 16-20. The camp offers a week of intense Bible study, fun and games. A different Boone's Creek Baptist Association pastor serves as camp pastor each week. They preach a sermon each night to the campers. The camp staff undergoes an intense interview process and background check before they can work with the children. They are, then, trained on the child protection law for the state of Kentucky. The staff for the most part were campers at one time. They love working with the children and young people. Cooperative Program How it works Simply put, it begins with you. You give yourself first to God (2 Cor. 8:5). Next, out of gratitude and obedience to God for what He has done for you, you commit to give back to Him, through your church, a portion of what He provides. This is commonly called a tithe and represents ten percent of your income (Lev. 27:30, Mal. 3:10). Your church decides the next step. Every year your church prayerfully decides how much of its undesignated gifts will be committed to reaching people in your state and around the world through Cooperative Program. This amount is then forwarded to your state Baptist convention. During the annual meeting of your state convention, messengers from your church and other churches across the state decide what percentage of Cooperative Program gifts contributed by local congregations stays in your state to support local missions and ministries. The percentage to be forwarded to the Southern Baptist Convention for North American and international missions and ministries is also determined at this time. At the Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting, messengers from across the country decide how the gifts received from the states will be distributed among SBC entities. These gifts are used by Southern Baptist entities to send and support missionaries, train pastors, and other ministry leaders; provide relief for retired ministers and widows; and address social, moral, and ethical concerns relating to our faith and families. The bottom line people around the world hear the gospel and receive Christ. Food For Thought:
Dr. A. W. Tozer wrote the following: I think it is a completely wrong concept in Christian circles to look upon Jesus as a kind of divine nurse to whom we can go when sin has made us sick, and after He has helped us, to say, "Goodbye, Jesus"-and go on our own way. Suppose I go into a hospital in need of a blood transfusion. After the staff has ministered to me and given their services, do I just slip out with a cheery "goodbye"-as though I owe them nothing and it was kind of them to help me in my time of need? That may sound far out to you, but it draws a picture of attitudes among us today. But the Bible never in any way gives us such a concept of salvation. Nowhere are we ever led to believe that we can use Jesus as a Savior and not own Him as our Lord. He is the Lord and as the Lord He saves us, because He has all of the offices of Savior, Christ, High Priest, and Wisdom and Righteousness and Sanctification and Redemption! He is all of these-and all of these are embodied in Him as Christ, the Lord!

Yours in Christ,

Bro. John Ryder
