ar cc aCC_link make

Install the HP aC++ Linker Driver (aCC_link)

The HP aC++ Linker Driver is provided to allow linking aC++ objects for deployment on end-user systems. aCC_link is derived from the aCC(1) interface but provides only linking functionality. Oracle E-Business Suite requires the linker as part of its installation process. aCC_link (CPL Product: HP-ACC-Link) is available from HP on the March 2008 (or later) Application Release (AR) media for HP-UX 11i v1 (11.11), HPUX 11i v2 (11.23) and HP-UX 11i v3 (11.31) for the corresponding HP-UX Itanium or PA-RISC versions. Information on the aC++ Linker driver can be found at: http://docs.hp.com/en/5992-3373/ch10s02.html and its corresponding manpage: aCC_link(1). Part numbers for the Application Release (AR) media can be found at: http://www.hp.com/softwarereleases/releases-media2/current.html

Other Requirements
The following are other requirements for HP-UX PA-RISC.

Kernel Settings
The following table lists the recommended kernel parameter settings for HP-UX PA-RISC 11.11, 11.23 and 11.31. Kernel changes between 11.11, 11.23 and 11.31 have resulted in a few of the referenced parameters being specific to a particular HP-UX version or their default values being increased to a level sufficient for EBS deployments (see the notes in the "Parameter" column for more details). Note: Verify that the following kernel parameters are set either to the formula or value shown. Refer to your operating system documentation or contact your operating system vendor for more information on how to set kernel parameters. Parameter Application Tier for Multi-node Installation or Application and Database Tiers for Single-node Installation1 Database Tier for Multinode Installation2 Default value 0 (8 * nproc) For Database tier using asynch_io: 200 Otherwise, set to default value. 1024 0xC0000000 -> 3 Gbyte 0x100000000 -> 4 Gbyte

Note: Customers who use 64-bit EBS applications (such as APS) often require larger amounts of memory and may need to increase the value of maxdsiz_64bit to a much higher value (e.g. 16Gb to start with). If these applications receive an out of memory indication, increasing this kernel parameter further may help resolve the issue. However, care should be exercised in not setting this value too high. For details and usage notes on setting this parameter, refer to the man page using the command "man maxdsiz_64bit" 4096 4096 4096 63488

Notes: 1 In a single-node installation, both application and database tiers reside on the same server. 2 In a multi-node installation, the database typically resides on a different server than the application tier. This allows for further tuning of kernel parameters to optimize performance on each tier. For HP-UX 11.11: Use the kmtune administrative command to verify or change HP-UX kernel tunable parameters.
$ /usr/sbin/kmtune

For HP-UX 11.23 amd 11.31: Use the kctune administrative command to verify or change HP-UX kernel tunable parameters.
$ /usr/sbin/kctune

ulimit Value Settings

Verify that the owner of the Oracle Application Server and Oracle Database server file systems have the following 'ulimit' values:

time (seconds) = unlimited file (blocks) = unlimited data (kbytes) = value of maxdsiz from the Kernel Settings table above stack (kbytes) = value of maxssiz from the Kernel Settings table above memory (kbytes) = unlimited coredump (blocks) = unlimited nofiles (descriptors) = 4096

Use the following command to check the ulimit settings:

$ ulimit -a

Note:

Add the command "ulimit -c unlimited" to the apps and database user shell or login profile. This defines how big a core file can be created should a process fail in a way that a core dump will be taken. Do not add any additional ulimit commands to shell or login profiles for data, stack, and nofiles. All key settings should be set via the kernel parameters.

Host Names Settings

Verify that the /etc/hosts file is formatted as follows:
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost [ip_address] [hostname].[domain] [node_name]

Note: Ensure that the hostname length does not exceed 8 characters.

Before Installing or Upgrading

If the Release 12.1.1 installation or upgrade is performed with the Rapid Install wizard (either a new R12.1.1 installation or upgrade from 11i to R12.1.1), ensure you have the latest Rapid Install patch as described in Oracle Applications Release Notes, Release 12.1.1 (My Oracle Support Note ID: 798258.1) before

you begin your installation or upgrade. Complete all operating system requirements, software requirements, and other requirements before installing or upgrading Oracle E-Business Suite. Attention: If you are performing a new installation of Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1, you must use Rapid Install startCD 12.1.1.10 (available as patch 8626041) or later.

OPMN port conflict

Attention: By default, the OPMN service of the Application Server technology stack listens on port 6000 when started up during RapidInstall. This can conflict with the X11 port used for the graphics console on HP-UX servers and prevent the RapidInstall from completing. To address this issue, perform the following steps before installing or upgrading:

Disable the graphics console login process on the HP-UX server. This can be accomplished by logging in as the UNIX root user and issuing the following commands: o Shutdown the dtlogin process with the command "/sbin/init.d/dtlogin.rc stop" o Confirm that nothing is listening at port 6000 ("netstat -a | grep 6000") o Disable the local X console for dtlogin by editing /etc/dt/config/Xservers. The local console specification is at the end of the file ... just comment the line out. o Restart dtlogin ("/sbin/init.d/dtlogin.rc start")

MLOCK Privilege
To permit the Oracle database to process asynchronous I/O operations, the OSDBA group (dba) must have the MLOCK privilege. For instructions on how to grant the dba group the MLOCK privilege, refer to the "Administering Oracle Database on HP-UX" appendix in the Oracle Database Administrator's Reference for UNIX-Based Operating Systems for your Oracle database version.

Installing or Upgrading
Perform the installation or upgrade following the documentation (Oracle E-Business Suite Installation Guide: Using Rapid Install, Oracle E-Business Suite Upgrade Guide: Release 11i to Release 12.1.1 or Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 Maintenance Pack Installation Instructions) relevant to the specific installation or upgrade scenario described above.

Apply the R12.AD.B.DELTA.2 Patch (8502056)

Log in to the Applications tier and stop the services using the command: $ADMIN_SCRIPTS_HOME/adstpall.sh 1. Download and follow the README of the R12.AD.B.DELTA.2 patch 8502056 to apply this patch to the Applications tier. 2. Relink AD using the command: % adrelink.sh force=y ranlib=n "ad all" 3. Use ADADMIN to relink all Applications executables. Restart the Applications tier services using the command: $ADMIN_SCRIPTS_HOME/adstrall.sh

After Installing or Upgrading

Prior to allowing users to access the system, perform the following steps after installing or upgrading to Release 12. Note: The following post-install/post-upgrade steps are only necessary if you have performed a new R12 install or an upgrade from 11i using the Rapid Install wizard. These steps are not necessary if you have upgraded from an older version of Release 12.0 using the Release Update Pack (RUP).

Apply Applications Server 10.1.3.4 patch

Apply the Applications Server 10.1.3.4 patch 6130323 on the web tier.

SHLIB_PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH Environment Variables

Dynamic libraries are used as part of the relinking and execution processes. The LD_LIBRARY_PATH and SHLIB_PATH environment variables are used by Oracle Applications to locate the required dynamic libraries at runtime. Rapid Install sets LD_LIBRARY_PATH and SHLIB_PATH as follows: On each application tier server node: LD_LIBRARY_PATH and SHLIB_PATH are set in three places:

$APPL_TOP/admin/adovars.env $ORA_CONFIG_HOME/10.1.2/[CONTEXT_NAME].env, in the 10.1.2 Oracle home directory $ORA_CONFIG_HOME/10.1.3/[CONTEXT_NAME].env, in the 10.1.3 Oracle home directory

To change the value in any of the application tier locations, use the Edit Parameters function of the OAM AutoConfig tool to update the following fields (as required). Then, run AutoConfig (adautocfg.sh) to implement the changes. Location adovars Parameter LD_LIBRARY_PATH and SHLIB_PATH

10.1.3 Oracle Home LD_LIBRARY_PATH and SHLIB_PATH Tools Oracle Home LD_LIBRARY_PATH and SHLIB_PATH Additional Information: See AutoConfig in Oracle Applications Maintenance Utilities for more information on AutoConfig. On the database server node: LD_LIBRARY_PATH and SHLIB_PATH are set in $ORACLE_HOME/[CONTEXT_NAME].env.

Net Service Listeners in Multi-user Installations

Net Service Listeners use the /tmp/.oracle directory to store temporary files. To give all users in a multi-user installation write privileges, update /tmp/.oracle with 777 permissions:
$ chmod 777 /tmp/.oracle

Recommended FND patch if upgrading to Release Update Pack (RUP) 3

Customers who are upgrading to 12.1.3 (RUP 3) should install the patch 11845888 to address a 12.1.3 specific issue on this platform.

Known Issues
The following are known issues for this release.

vx_iget - inode table overflow error

This error has been observed on some HP-UX servers during the EBS installation process, resulting in a failed RapidWiz installation. The error message could appear in the shell window from which RapidWiz was launched as well as the system log file (/var/adm/syslog/syslog.log). The problem occurs only on servers

where the kernel parameter vx_ninode has been set to a non-default value that is insufficient for the number of active files during the installation process. To resolve the error, reset the parameter to its default with the command kmtune vx_ninode=Default (for HP-UX 11.11) or kctune vx_ninode=Default (for HPUX 11.23 and 11.31). This kernel parameter is static in HP-UX 11.11 and 11.23 (a reboot is required) but is dynamic in HP-UX 11.31 (no reboot is required). The EBS installation process can then be restarted.

Soft link for libclntsh.sl.10.1 points to a non-existent location

This issue is specific to the 11gR1 database version only. This error occurs under the database ORACLE_HOME/lib and ORACLE_HOME/lib32 directories. The soft link for libclntsh.sl.10.1 points to an absolute path of a location which does not exist. This broken link problem will cause the clone process to fail when trying to create another EBS environment by cloning. To resolve this issue, apply the one-off patch 9346232 to the source environment before starting the clone process.

Corrupted Applications context file when upgrading to 12.1.3

When running AutoConfig after upgrading to 12.1.3, the Application context file can become corrupted. To avoid this, update the JDK on the applications tier to JDK 6.0.08 or later. Refer to My Oracle Support Note 455492.1 for instructions on how to upgrade the JDK.

Move libdms2.sl shared library to correct location

If you have either (a) upgraded your Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 technology stack to include OracleAS 10.1.3.3.0 OC4J or later, or (b) performed a new installation with the Release 12.1 Rapid Install, move the libdms2.sl shared library to its correct location using the following steps: 1. Stop Oracle Application Server: $ opmnctl stopall 2. Change directory to the location where the misplaced library file should reside: $ cd $ORACLE_HOME/lib32 3. Back up the existing copy of the library file that is found there: $ mv ./libdms2.sl ./libdms2.sl.old 4. Move the library file from the incorrect location to the current directory: $ mv $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libdms2.sl . 5. Start Oracle Application Server: $ opmnctl startall
