extract of Andrographis paniculata in streptozotocin-diabetic rats. Conclusion The ethanolic extract of A paniculata possesses antidiabetic property. Its antidiabeticeffect may be attributed at least in part to increased glucose metabolism. Its hypotriglyceridemic effect is also beneficial in the diabetic state Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahaa bakteri uji yang paling sensitif terhadap ekstrak daun sambiloto adalah Salmonella sp . Dan meningkatnya konsentrasi ekstrak daun sambiloto meningkatnan pula secara nyata (P<0,05) diameter daerah hambat yang terbentuk. These results suggest that andrographolide is an interesting pharmacophore with anticancer and immunomodulatory activities and hence has the potential for being developed as a cancer therapeutic agent In conclusion, the present investigation clearly showed that Andrographis paniculata crude extract had a very great potential as drug alternative in diabetic patients and related disorder. Both these two plant extracts in combination

with curcumin could be an effective, alternative source of herbal anti-malarial drugs. These results candidly suggest the presence of promising antibacterial substances in the polar as well as non-polar extracts which could be the source of potential phytomedicine for the treatment of skin infections caused by the pathogenic bacterial strains. Our findings explicitly support its traditional claims and form a strong basis for further sincere efforts to explore A. paniculatas antibacterial potential to treat skin frailties efficaciously. Kalmegh extract protects lipid, haemoglobin and red blood cells from lipid peroxidation. It prevents oxidative damage and inhibits binding to toxic metabolites to DNA. Safety evaluation studies indicate that kalmegh is well tolerated at very high dose without any toxic effects. The boiled aquous of sendok and sambiloto leave might have an effect to decrease the SGOT level. The boiled aquous of sendok and sambiloto leave might decrease the SGOT level of the paracetamol induced rats during the 16 day, but the decreasein of SGOT level on boiled aquous of sambiloto leave treatment was higher than in sendok group The present study explicitly exhibited the antibacterial effect of various extracts of Andrographis paniculata against skin infections causing bacterial strains. The inhibitory effect of the extracts justified the medicinal use of Andrographis paniculata in the treatment of skin infirmities by traditional practitioners and further study is mandatory to find out the active principles of medicinal value. isolation and in combination with curcumin and artesunate against the erythrocytic stages of Plasmodium falciparum in vitro and Plasmodium berghei ANKA in vivo ethanolic extract of A. paniculata leaves gave the highest phenolic and flavonoid contents and showed potent antibacterial and antifungal activity against UTI causing bacteria and dermatophytes respectively. This explains the use of A. paniculata in folk medicine for treatment of infectious diseases. It was evident from the present study that, ethanolic extract of A. paniculata leaves showed strong lipid peroxidation inhibitory activity, DPPH scavenging activity and superoxide scavenging activity. On the basis of the results obtained, it can be concluded that ethanol is the best solvent for extracting antimicrobial and antioxidant bioactive compounds (phenols and flavonoids). The results suggest that the aqueous extract of the leaves of Andrographis paniculata has spermicidal activity pretreatment with ethonolic extract of A. paniculata ethanolic provided significant protection against gastric ulcer by regulating of pH, mucous production and antioxidant property The biochemical estimation results revealed the presence of carbohydrates, proteins, phenolics, flavonoids, saponins and alkaloids. Thus, the antimicrobial and antioxidant activity of A. paniculata is responsible for the phenolics, flavonoids, saponins and alkaloids. And carbohydrates and proteins give the nutritive value of A. paniculata. (Plate 10). On the basis of presented results, we can consider the in vitro raised plants of Andrographis

paniculata are equally potent as that of the wild plants. The result obtained from our study may vary from the earlier reports due to environmental differences within species, time of taking samples and determination methods. As methanolic extract of leaves of A. paniculata had good percentage of TPC and flavonoid content, the above findings recommend the further investigation of A. paniculata leaves to evaluate their chemical potential. kombinasi ekstrak Echinacea purpurea dan Andrographis paniculata mampu mempertahankan kadar enzim SGOT dan SGPT pada tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) yang dibuat menderita stres panas dalam batas normal, seperti pada kelompok kontrol negatif The antibacterial activity is more significant against Gram positive bacterium Enterococcus faecalis whereas the antifungal activity is more significant against Aspergillus flavus. These results may justify the popular use of this species as it has antimicrobial activity. Results suggests that the hepatoprotective effects of PHF might be useful for liver protection due to combined action of all plant extracts along with their phytoconstituents. It can be concluded that the aqeous extract of A.Paniculata have significant hepatoprotective on CCL4 induced hepatic damage(14,15) in rats, as evidence by the biochemical parameters.further work is in progress to isolate and characterise the active principles in these extracts .The result of this study demonstrate that A.Paniculata has a potent hepatoprotective action on CCL4 induced hepatic damage in rats. The aqueous leaf extract of A.paniculata could protect the liver against ethanol induced liver

toxicity by possibly reducing the rate of lipid peroxidation and increasing the antioxidant defense mechanism in rats The present study concluded that the widely available medicinal plant Andrographis paniculata can, not only provide active compound for clinical application but also for controlling fouling organisms, which pose major threat to shipping industry. The results of the current study revealed that antibacterial efficacies of acetone, ethanol, methanol, petroleum ether and chloroform extracts varied in effectiveness which may be attributed to the presence of saponins and tannin. The presence of phenolic compounds in the plant indicates the antimicrobial properties. In the present research, the author also observed the antibacterial assay, which agrees with the findings of Ofokansi et al. (2005). The phytochemicals are Known to have antimicrobial properties (Gupta et al., 2010). Hence, these plants can be used to discover bioactive natural products that may lead to the development of new pharmaceuticals research activities Combined formulations were evaluated for synergistic activity and a 1:4 ratio of Bti and Ee was observed to be more effective than 1:2 and 1:1 ratios. However the larvicicdal activity is minimal when the mixed formulations contained an equal amount of both constituents (i. e a 1: 1 ratio). A ratio of 1: 4 of Bti and Ee of A. paniculata was 51.6 fold more toxic at the LC90 for larvicidal activity, than Bti alone and this high level of activity resulted from synergism between the Bti and Ee of A. paniculata Nees.
