Description
We have been told to find 40 workstations for the classroom with a budget of 15,000. As provided we have found 40 workstations that are under out 15,000 budget. We have decided as all the PCs are being updated why not update the server? Vendorlib will not last another 7 years. So, what's with the server? Students who forget their USB sticks end up saving their work to the local machine, where it's at risk of being deleted by students from another class, or where the student could forget which machine they saved their work to it, and it being considered lost So, installing a shared network drive for everyone to access, as well as individual accounts for each Cisco student to use would be beneficial. It would avoid the need for resources like box.net which is inaccessible when the school's internet connection isn't working (which is often), and can be slow. The high specs of the server allow for virtual private servers to be implemented, which would let Post 16 students install and configure server software in a safe, secure environment that can be left persistently if the setup is interesting or good enough, unlike the current situation where Post 16 students have to dismantle their work after it's completed. Active Directory? If you're getting all new computers, a new server with Active Directory might be good. The current server might not be powerful enough to handle it

We decided to allocate 13,000 to the 40 workstations and 2,000 to the Vendorlib 2.0 server.
