The event will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, and will end at 6:00 p.m. followed by a Vendors only cocktail party and networking event. We Mean Business in Butler & Armstrong Counties Business to Business Showcase 2012 Representing nearly 1,200 businesses in Butler & Armstrong Counties, the Chambers are proud of whom we represent. From family-owned businesses, professional concerns, educational and health-related organizations - spanning sole proprietorships and the largest employers, we have a lot to be proud of. We encourage you to become involved in this effort to combine assets and collectively show the area what we offer. n 2003, the Butler County Chamber began recognizing local organizations that impact the community through a cooperative project or initiative, with the presentation of the Community Champion Award. 4-Most Group, Inc. Architects, has designed and sponsored the award certificate since its inception. This years Community Champion Award luncheon is sponsored by ARMSTRONG and presented in cooperation with the Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau. Main Street lighting, flowers and signage earned the Butler Shade Tree Commission the first inaugural award. Slippery Rock Area Development Association followed the next year for the Main Street renovations in Slippery Rock. Butler AM Rotary Club received well-deserved honors for the handicapped playground at Alameda Park. We were pleased to recognize the Parking Authority of Butler for the parking deck and surface lot improvements in downtown Butler. Butler Downtown had worked for numerous years to successfully establish the Main Street Program and was deservedly recognized followed in 2008 by the Historic Pullman Park Commission. In 2009 we rewarded the Community Health Clinic of Butler County, for establishing a visionary facility for health care. 2010 recognized the Historic Strand Theater Committee in Zelienople for their community preservation efforts and the Butler-Freeport Trail received last years award.

The Board of Directors and Past Presidents Advisory Council of the Butler County Chamber, along with the Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau, are pleased to honor The Little Theatre Group of Butler as the 10th Butler County Chamber of Commerce Community Champion Award recipient. Currently planning for the 71st season of great entertainment, the Butler Little Theatre has been an anchor for our cultural community, offering live shows, classes for children and involvement in numerous events and activities. As one of the main attractions for our Leadership Butler County Program, we appreciate your efforts as an all-volunteer organization. Kittenpaloozza

n July 6th and 7th, the Butler County Humane Society will be hosting Kittenpalooza, a unique adoption event to help find the many kittens born this spring their forever homes. There will be the opportunity for families to have their adoption preapproved by filling out and submitting an adoption form to the shelter. Every adoption form will then go through the usual adoption process and if you are approved, you may choose and take home your new kitten (or kittens) the same day. There will also be specials on multiple kitten adoptions; including enough bowls, litter boxes, and other niceties to make bringing your kittens home as simple as possible. The Butler County Humane Society is proud to serve pets and people in Butler County through their programs and is dedicated to providing the highest quality care possible to the nearly 2,000 homeless dogs and cats they care for each year. BHS Administrator Promoted to Chief Operating Officer

tephanie Roskovski was recently promoted to the position of Chief Operations Officer at Butler Health System. Roskovski has been a member of the administrative team at BMH since 2002 most recently serving as Vice President of Operations. Roskovski earned a Bachelor of Science degree from West Virginia University where she majored in Business Administration. She received a dual Masters in Health Administration and Public Administration. She started her career as the Director of Community Health Planning at Butler Memorial Hospital in 1994. She has a wide and diverse background at BHS, also serving as Director of Education, Special Assistant to the President and Vice President of Outpatient Services, and Vice President of Operations. She is currently on the Board of the Butler County Chamber of Commerce and has served as a Director on the Leadership Butler County Board of Directors as an alumna. Stephanie will now assume a much more comprehensive role in the coordination and execution of all operations within the health system, says Ken DeFurio, President and CEO. Stephanie brings a wealth of knowledge to this position and we look forward to her leadership contributions in the years ahead. A Butler native, Roskovski resides in Center Township with her husband Scott and children Jacob and Sophie.

Guiding students through the pathway to the skills and education required by the companies that will need them is a task that requires the support of our entire community. So for the first time ever, Butler County Educators and Employers will be adapting an established College Fair and launching the Butler County College & Career Fair.

We would like to take this opportunity to invite your business to participate in this event which is scheduled for Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Butler Senior High School. Students (and their parents) from all of the Butler County high schools will be invited to attend. College, business, and skilled trades representatives will be on hand to talk with the students and their families about Career opportunities and to discuss what skills and education are required to access these career opportunities and where and how a student might get started on a path to a successful career. 18th Annual Ladies Golf Outing Scheduled on August 1

s one of the few ladies only golf outings in the area, the Butler County Chamber of Commerces 18th Annual Ladies Golf Outing will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2012. Dont miss your chance to enjoy a beautiful day of golf and networking. The outing, held at Conley Resort in Butler, includes a round of golf, lunch, beverages, contests, cocktail hour, dinner, prizes and team awards. The cost to golf is $90.00 per person or $340.00 per foursome. A gold foursome can also be purchased for $425.00 (includes tee sponsorship). Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. with an 11:00 a.m. shotgun start. Golfers will be treated to a buffet brunch prior to start, cocktail hour and a delicious dinner immediately following golf. Individual and team skill prizes, hole-in-one, other popular golf contests and door prizes will be highlight the days activities. The first place team will be awarded special prizes compliments of Moses Jewelers;

second place team will receive awards compliments of Unicorn Gifts. Once again this year, we will be drawing a foursome at random to receive a special team prize. 2nd Annual Powerful Connections for Women All women are Leaders

omen United, an initiative of United Way of Butler County; in conjunction with Butler Health System, Slippery Rock University, and the Butler County Chamber of Commerce, is pleased to announce the Second Annual Powerful Connections for Women Conference being held on August 3, 2012, at 8:00 a.m. at Slippery Rock University in the Robert M. Smith Student Center. This full-day conference and workshop identifies strategies for success, and includes connecting to the real issues of work/life balance, health/wellness, and professional/personal growth skills. The morning keynote speaker is Newlin Archinal. After nearly 15 years, Newlin transitioned from her successful career as a television anchor, Emmynominated journalist and business editor to become an investment advisor. In 2008, Newlin joined Integrity Wealth Consulting and has earned the designation of Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor. From her first-hand experience, she will speak on transitioning careers and life paths. The afternoon keynote speaker is The Honorable

Marilyn J. Horan. For 33 years, Judge Horan has been a trailblazer, leading the way for women to succeed in the workforce. She has been a judge of the Court of Common Pleas for Butler County for 16 years. Prior to becoming the first woman judge for the County, she was a successful lawyer with the law firm of Murrin, Taylor, Flach and Horan for 17 years. She is also a proud daughter, wife and mother of 4 children. Judge Horan will speak about the importance of mentors in career and personal development. Attendees will have the opportunity to select and attend two breakout sessions where experts in the fields of fitness, health, nutrition, stress management, social media, image, finance, networking and self defense will present useful information to women. 56th Annual Golf Outing a Success!


n Thursday, June 14, 2012, 122 golfers spent a fun and perfect Chamber of Commerce weather day on the course during the Chambers 56th Annual Golf Outing at Lake Arthur Golf Club. Guests enjoyed breakfast, lunch, cocktail hour, hors doeuvres and dinner. Golfers also participated in a 50/50 raffle, door prizes, Chinese Auction, team and skill prizes and, of course, 18 holes of golf. Maher Deussel was the first place team with Mars Home for Youth coming in second, and Conley Resort a close third. Skill prizes went to Beth Wichtrowski, Craig Nunamaker, Mike Strutt, Stephanie Gantz, T.J. Salopek and Vinnie Deleonibus. Due to the outstanding efforts of our Putting Contest crew (Tammy Schuey, 1st Vice Chair of the Board (Butler Eagle) and Karen Brackett, Chamber Board Director (NexTier Bank) Bill Gialiabardo was able to walk away with a generous financial prize.
