a) Teach digital time first (i.e., "nine fifteen" before "a quarter past nine"). With literacy, teach the quarter hours by saying "o'clock, fifteen, thirty, and forty-five" and having them hold their arms out in the correct position. b) Make one clock per pair using a push pin and corrugated cardboard backing from old boxes. Give the time and have the class do on their clocks. Then have students practice in pairs, using: 'Excuse me. What time is it?' c) For 'past' and 'to' draw a vertical line to cut the clock face in two. Add an arrow with 'past' on one side and 'to' on the other.
