The Study Catechism: Full Version

We come like Philip: following the angels, waiting for a word from the Spirit. So breathe your Word into us, O God, that we might have boldness to speak to the stranger on the road, to proclaim the good news about Jesus, to love one another. Let us dwell within your deep love for us. Let us live within the truth of Scripture: Perfect love casts out all fear. HANOVER *HYMN #477 Ye Servants of God

Q65. Who are the needy? The hungry need bread, the homeless need a roof, the oppressed need justice, time and the lonely need fellowship. At the same timeon another and deeper level levelthe hopeless need hope, sinners need forgiveness, and the world needs the gospel. On this level no one is excluded, and all the needy are one. Our mission as the church is to bring hope to a desperate world by declaring Gods love bread. undying loveas one beggar tells another where to nd bread

RESPONSE TO THE WORD

PRESENTATION OF TITHES AND OFFERINGS OFFERTORY

Almighty God, on Pentecost you poured your Spirit out upon your disciples, creating bold tongues, open ears and a new community of faith. We confess that it is easy for us to forget that we were engrafted into that community by our baptisms. We do not listen for your word of grace or boldly speak the good news of your love. We do not live as people united in you, as servants of a servant Lord. Have mercy on us, we pray, and forgive us. Transform our timid lives by the power of your Spirit, and fill us with a desire to be your faithful people, doing your will in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
SILENT PRAYERS OF PERSONAL CONFESSION ASSURANCE OF PARDON Friends, believe the Good News of the Gospel: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God! AMEN. *GLORIA PATRI #579 GREATOREX MUSIC FROM VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: OPERATION OVERBOARD (Young Disciples, ages 5k and under, are dismissed for Extended Worship.)
