Annual Report 2011-12

The Academic year July11 April12 has been one of the most eventful years RSET has ever witnessed. The years noted events took off with the Election of Student Council members, each of whom has contributed towards the successful execution of the years events. This year, Mr. Wilfred Baby of S8 ECE was elected as the Chairman, Ms Aashika Elizabeth Alexander of S8 ECE as Vice Chairperson, Mr. Aswin Krishnan A.R of S8 AEI as General Secretary, Mr.Antony Palackan of S8 IT as Arts Club Secretary, Mr. Joe Thaliath of S8 ECE as Sports Secretary, Ms. Sruthi Thomas of S8 CSE as Magazine Editor and Ms. Aida Ann Issac of S8 CSE as University Union Council Representative. Onam was celebrated in our college in September with much fun and fervor. Students were dressed in traditional attire and games associated with Onam added fun to the day. RSET hosted its biennial national level techfest TECHKSHETRA 11 which was the highlight of this years events. Over 1000 participants from all over the country participated in over 12 events. The standout event of the fest was JOGA BONITO and AMAZING RACE. An International workshop on EMBEDDED COMPUTING & COMMUNICATION SYSTEM was held from December 22nd to 23rd, 2011. The workshop was technically supported by International Symposium on Electronic System Design (ISED).The workshop was scheduled for 2 days in Rajagiri School of engineering and technology, as a part of the conference. The workshop comprised of invited papers, invited talks and paper presentations. We had remarkable placements this year with 350 students receiving about 1000 offers from some of the reputed names in the IT, Electronics and Services field. Bharatham 12, the much anticipated arts fest of our college was held from 2nd to 4th of February. The students were divided among 5 houses to compete in various group and individual events. Emerging winners for 3 years in a row, RAJPUTS proved their supremacy over the other houses. VIKINGS house was the runners up. The Annual Sports Meet was held from 29th March to 4th April 2012, which saw the athletes from 5 houses competing against each other in various track and field events. Inter house games like Football, Cricket, Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton and Table Tennis were also conducted. A cricket tournament, STAFF PREMIER LEAGUE was also started this year. Bharatham 2012
Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology (RSET), Kakkanad, conducted the cultural extravaganza, Bharatham 2012 from 2nd FEBRUARY 2012 to 4th FEBRUARY 2012. Bharatham 2012 consisted of 70 events and was divided into 2 categories- literary events and the main events. The literary events were conducted from 25th January to 31st January from 3.30p.m. to 4.30 p.m. The main events were conducted over a span of two and a half days starting from 2nd Feb 3.30 p.m. The fest was conducted house wise comprising of teams Spartans, Vikings, Aryans , Mughals and Rajputs. The festival was inaugurated by Mr .Ramesh Pisharody, the famous Malayalam cine artist. Dr. J. Isaac, Principal, RASET, student affairs, Mr. Wilfred baby , Chairman and Mr. Antony palackan, Arts Club Secretary, Student Council, RASET were also present on the dias. After the inaugural ceremony, events such as movie scene dubbing and nostalgia was conducted in the Chavara hall. On the second day 39 events were conducted in 7 different venues. And on the final day 8 events were conducted in 4 different venues .Chavara Hall, Pareeksha Bhavan Hall-1, Hall II ,Hall III ,Hall IV,Hall V, Gallery Hall of New Block were the venues. The closing ceremony was presided by Rev. Fr.Antony kariyil , Director , RASET on the 4th of February at 3.30 PM . Dr. J. Isaac, Principal, RASET also addressed the gathering. Mrdula of S6 EC alpha batch was adjudged the KALATHILAKAM and Amal shaju of S4 EC ALPHA was adjudged the KALAPRATHIBHA. RAJPUTS led by MOHAMMED RIZWAN P.S. won the overall championship , while VIKINGS led by JITHIN SKARIA finished runners up . The Arts Fest unveiled young talents in the field of music, dance, and various other literal and cultural activities. The active involvement of the students in the events, made the three days fest a grand success.

SPORTS REPORT 2012

The Annual Sports Meet 2012 was held from 29th March to 4th April , 2012. This time the events were held over a 5day period with active participation from all the houses. For the first time in the history of RSET , Inter house games were conducted. Badminton , Volleyball and Throw ball were held for girls . Football , badminton , cricket, volley ball,table tennis and basketball was held for the boys. All the events were conducted fair and with maximum participation from all the batches. An Inter College Basketball event - RAJAGIRI TROPHY was hosted by the college on Feb 25,26,27 -2012. FISAT won the finals while RSET came runners up. Chavara cup , an inter Rajagiri basketball tournament was also held which was participated by the various sister institutions of Rajagiri. RSET were crowned the champions defeating CMI fathers team. A Staff cricket premier league was also started this year. The college staff were divided into 3 teams - Dark Knights , Megaminds and Red Dragons.
