1. Intended use TheHawlePRObutterflyvalveswithrestraintandmovablelooseflangesareusedforshut-offvalvesinthefieldofdrinkingwatersupplyup toamax.operatingpressureof16bar. Thespecificapplicationsofbutterflyvalvesarethepositionsopen andclosed. Butterfly valves are no control valves! Pleaseobservetheapplicablestandardsandcodes,theregulations forthepreventionofaccidentsandtheregulationsoftheprofessional associations. ValvesshallbeinstalledstressfreethisappliesalsototheHawlePRObutterflyvalve.Installationshallbeperformedbyappropriatelyinstructedpersonnelonly. Thebutterflyvalveisoperatedviahandwheel,electricdrive,pneumaticsimpulse(inthemanholeand/orinplants) orviaextensionspindle(incaseofburiedinstallation).Pleasemakesuretousethehandwheelsizesandoperating keysrecommendedbyus.Anymakeshiftextensionsorsimilarareinadmissible. Wheninstallingbutterflyvalvesprovidedwithspecialconnectionsorwithelectricactuatorstherelatedoperating instructionsandtheregulationsregardingCEmarkingshallbecompliedwith. ThebutterflyvalvesaredeliveredinstandarddesignwithflangesfollowingEN1092-2,PN10. 2. Product description TheHawlePRObutterflyvalveisequippedwithaproportionalactingsealingsysteminthevalvebodyensuring thatthesealisbornestressfreewhenthevalveisinopenpositionaswellasprovidingforlowoperatingmoments andfreedomofmaintenance. Thetworestraintlooseflangesaffordeasyinstallationeveninexistingpipelinesystems. As the flat gaskets inserted between the flanges are tightly pressed together there is usually the problem, after dismantlingadefectivebutterflyvalvetobeexchangedbyanewone,thatthereisnolongersufficientmounting spaceforabutterflyvalveofthesameface-to-facedimensionwithnewflatgaskets.Tobeabletostillinserttheflat gasketsitwillbenecessarytoexpandthetwoopposingflangesbymeansofwedgestocreatesufficientmounting space.However,thisisnotonlylabourconsumingbutalsoexpensive. TheHawlePRObutterflyvalveisequippedwithtapersealswithflatgasketfunctionatthetwospigotends.The fittinglengthincludingthesealingsystemcorrespondswithface-to-facedimensionF4.Thetwoflangesareboth movableinlongitudinaldirectionandcanbeturnedby360. TherestraintjointofHawlePRObutterflyvalvesisachievedviaacircumferentialgroovewithacollarinsertedatthe twospigotendsofthevalve.Incaseofaxialmovementsthelooseflangeismovedtotheendcollar,blockingthe furthermovementofthelooseflange. Aspecialadvantageoftherestraintjointasrealizedhereliesinthefactthattheendcollarisnotexposedtotensile stresswhentheflangesaretightened.Therefore,theflangeispreventedfromblockingtoosoononthespigotend duringinstallation,thuspermittingatighteningoftheflangeswithoutadditionaltensilestressandensuringthat thesleevegasketsareperfectlypressedtogether.Therestraintjointbecomeseffectiveonlywhenthelooseflange tendstoslipoffincaseofaxialmovements. Forscrewingthelooseflangeitisespeciallyfavourablethattheflangecanbealignedwiththemastergaugefor theholesoftheopposingflange! IfthelooseflangesPN10mustbereplacedbyPN16orviceversa,thiscanbedoneonsite.Pleaseobservethe followingprocedure: Fordismantlingtakeoffthetaperseal(withDN350,adapter,profilering),retainingendcollarandflange,oneafter theother.Mountingoftheflangeisperformedinreverseorder.(Duringworkingpleasemakesuretohavetheretainingendcollarinstalledandnottodamagethecoating.) Ifnecessary,therestraintjointcanberenderedineffectivebyremovingtheendcollar. Warning: Incaseofnon-restraintbutterflyvalvesaleakagemayappear.Besidesthespigotendmaybepulledoutofthe sleevegasketandflangebecauseoftheoccurringtensileforceonthepipelineinlongitudinaldirection.Thusthere istheriskofanaccident.

3. Installation Make sure to protect the assembled Hawle PRO butterfly valve from damageduringtransportation.Whenloadingandhandlingthebutterfly valvebymeansofcranesitcanbesuspendedatthelateraloutletsby meansofstraps. BeforemountingtheHawlePRObutterflyvalvemakesuretocleanthe pipelines.Theremustnotbeanysoilingand/orforeignbodiessuchas residuesofweldingrods,slag,dirt,bolts,nuts,etc.,asthesemaycause malfunctions. If larger solids (stones, wood or other) are carried along withtheflowmedium,ascreenshouldbeinstalledupstreamofthebutterflyvalve. The butterfly valve shall be installed in such a way that the shaft of the disc is arranged horizontally. Special design for vertical installation! TheHawlePRObutterflyvalvecanbeusedforbothflowdirections. During installation in the pipeline system care must be taken that the connecting flanges of the pipeline getting in contact with the butterfly valvearearrangedparalleltoeachotherandareexactlyalignedtoavoid anytensionloadsactinguponthevalvebody.Forthesamereason,and toachievearegularpressing-onoftheflangesealings,itisalsonecessarytotightentheconnectingscrewsregularly.Pleaseobservethetighteningtorquesofthescrews!Moreover,do notinstallthevalvedownstreamofbendswhichmaycauseanegativeflowbehaviourinthevalve. Mountingand/ordismantling:Whenthediscisinopenpositionitwillprojectslightlybeyondthevalveincaseof nominalwidths300andhigher(seedimensionTintheabovedrawing)! Whenusingahandwheel,secureitbymeansofahexagonheadscrewatthespindleoutlet. Whenusinganextensionspindleitmustbeturnedontothethreadedadaptor. Theactuatorandthesealingsystemarepreset.AnymodificationofthesettingsoftheHawlePRObutterflyvalve willresultinalossofwarranty! 4. Maintenance TheHawlePRObutterflyvalveisdesignedformaintenance-freeoperation.Toensureatrouble-freeoperationwe suggestactuatingandinspectingthevalveatregularintervalsasrecommendedinDVGWsheetW392. Incaseofbutterflyvalveswithanelectricactuatorthebutterflyvalve,theactuatorandtheelectricalequipmentmust bechecked,inadditiontothefunctionalcheck,atleastonceayear.PleaseobservetheEuropeanregulationsonCE marking(e.g.EUMachineryDirective,EUEMCDirective,regulationsforthepreventionofaccidents,) Theblow-offresistantshaftpermitsatrouble-freereconstructionorexchangeofthegear,ifnecessary.Itcanbe quicklydismantledbylooseningthe4hexagonheadscrews. 5. Start-up and pressure testing Openthebutterflyvalve,fillthepipelineandperformthepressuretestwiththeditchstillopenand/orintheplant. TheHawlePRObutterflyvalveisdesignedforamax.operatingpressureof16bar.
