Wars in Africa, Middle East could send waves of immigrants to our shores
By Keith Johnson The Census Bureau bases its projections on trends and assumptions about future childbearing, mortality and net international migration. However, it fails to factor in a predictable future that could further dilute Americas demographics. As the U.S. continues to pursue its adventurism in the Middle East and Africa, more Arabs, Persians and Africans will be forced out of their homelands due to wars largely fought by the Western powers and revolutionary groups that seek to kill or drive existing regimes out. Considering that the United States has one of the most liberal immigration policies in the world, its not unreasonable to predict that tens of millions of refugees may wash up on American shores over the course of the next few decades. One interesting prediction from a Washington think tank notes that illegal immigration from Mexico may have come to a standstill. A recent report by the Pew Hispanic Center indicates, After four decades that brought 12 million current immigrantsmost of whom came illegallythe net migration flow from Mexico to the United States has stopped and may have reversed. The report goes on to say, As of 2011, some 6.1 million unauthorized Mexican immigrants were living in the U.S., down from a peak of nearly 7 million in 2007. While this may come as welcome news, the reasons given for the shift show just how bad the nations economy has become: The standstill appears to be the result of many factors, including weakened U.S. job and housing construction markets. 5

fter more than two centuries of taking in the tired, poor and huddled masses from around the globe, the United States is reaching full capacity, and now stands on the precipice of devolving into a Third World country. Since 1950, the population of the United States has more than doubled. And, according to a new report, it is expected to increase by 41 percentfrom a current 311 million to 440 millionover the course of the next four decades. Along with this epic rise in population comes a change in the nations complexion. Last decade, AsianAmericans ranked highest among all ethnic groups in the U.S.increasing from 11.9 million in 2000 to 17.3 million in 2010. Likewise, Hispanics have made significant gains and are projected to triple their share of the nations total population by 2050. Meanwhile, the single-race white population has stagnated. In fact, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, this group is projected to lose population in the 2030s and 2040s and comprise 46 percent of the total population in 2050, down from 66 percent in 2008.
