To activate the PS services, the APN must be set according to operators setting. In Optus, the APN must be set to 3gdgnet. There are 2 methods to set the APN for terminal:

A) Setting APN through terminals Menu

1) Configure the APN through terminals menu: MENU SETTING

CONNECTIVITY NETWORK ACCESS POINT PROFILE x. 2) Double click at the Access point name column under PROFILE x menu and enter 3gdgnet. 3) Back to main menu. You can check the PS service by browsing the internet. MENU BROWSER INTERNET SETTING PROFILE y NETWORK ACCESS POINT. 4) Make sure you select the correct profile under NETWORK ACCESS POINT menu, which is PROFILE x in step 1. 5) Back to BROWSER Menu and enter to the Enter URL menu. 6) Type the URL address, e.g., http://www.googles.com 7) The content of the homepage should be display on the screen. 8) You can connect your terminal to the PC/laptop and access the internet through your PC/laptop. Your terminal will become modem in this case. 9) Click on START CONNECT TO All connections. 10) Click at Create a new connection at the Network Tasks column. 11) Follow the wizard to complete the connection setup:

Select Connect to the Internet and Click Next.

Select Set up my connection manually and click Next.

Select Connect using a dial-up modem and click Next.

Select the correct modem: Mobile Adapter 3G Modem for Huawei U1211 terminal. Click Next.

Type the ISP Name, e.g., Optus in this example. Click Next.

Type the Phone number as *99#. Click Next.

There is no need to input User name and password. Skip this step and click Next.

You can add a shortcut to the desktop by checking the box. Click Finish to complete the set up.

Click Dial to set up the PS connection through PC/laptop.

12) If the terminal using the 2nd method for APN setting before, the PS connection

through PC/laptop might be failure. Please follow the second method for activate the APN setting.

B) APN setting through Dial Properties.

Click the Properties at the connection dial up page.

Check the Show terminal window box and click OK.

In the Connect Optus page, click Dial. A Pre-dial Terminal Screen will pop up, as shown in figure below:

6) Configure the APN in the pop up window. The command is: at+cgdcont=1,"ip","****" (press ENTER after input **** is the APN value. **** = 3gdgnet in this case. 7) You should be able to connect to the internet after the setting. 8) To lock the frequency for Data Modem E220: at^u2diag=0 at^freqlock=1, 10837 (xxxx is the DL frequency) 9) For Data Modem E270/E180, the command is: at^freqlock=1, 10837 10) To unlock the frequency, the corresponding command is: at^freqlock=0
