Costa de la Luz, the Coast of Light, is the beautiful unspoilt region of Spain that borders the
Eastern Algarve of neighbouring Portugal.

Boasting 320 days of sunshine a year the area offers over 12 quality golf courses within 45
minutes drive of the Spanish / Portuguese border. This region is perfect for all year round golf.

The flagship of the region is the magnificent Monte Rei, newly opened in 2007, just a few
miles from the River Guadiana, which forms the natural border between Spain and Portugal.
This course and club has been designed with service in mind. Upon arrival your clubs will be
taken from your car for you and tee times are staggered at 15 minute intervals thus providing
a relaxing and private round. Although the green fees initially seem high, a buggy is included
in the fee, although you do have to swing the club yourself!

All of the courses in the area offer challenges to all levels of ability and all tend to be quieter
and less expensive than in other regions of Spain.

Most offer discounted green fees for afternoon play in the height of summer and many have
deals for twilight golf.

Located inland close to Huelva.

The Dunas de Doñana golf course is located adjacent to the

nature reserve "National Park of Doñana". Close to the
Atlantic the course is attractive and features several holes
where water dominates. Designed effectively in a combination
of two 9 hole courses (Donana & Atlantic) the course offers
both an American style and links style challenge.

El Rompido 72 6148 €90

Surrounded by the natural marsh area of Las Marismas del

Rompido, with some spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean,
this attractive course has integrated perfectly with its natural
surroundings. It is located approximately halfway between
Islantilla and Huelva.

Isla Canela 72 6248 €66

Located between Isla Canela beach and Ayamonte the course

is mature and well manicured. Wide fairways run between
natural dunes and orange, olive, eucalyptus and palms trees
provide natural hazards. There are some spectacular natural
water hazards which are fed directly from the river.

Islantilla 71 6142 €63

The course is made up of 27 holes to accommodate 18 holes

for all standards. Situated close to Lepe, with fantastic views
over the Atlantic Ocean.

Nuevo Portil 71 5841 €43

About 20 minutes’ drive from the Portuguese border, the

course weaves its way through a development of privately
owned properties.
The fairways have fantastic sea views over the nearby dune-
beaches and are quite wide, with gently sloping greens.

Costa Esuri 72 6268 €43

The first of the two courses opened in 2006 with the second
due to open early 2008. Course 1 has fantastic views over the
River Guadiana and on to Portugal. Despite its youth the
greens are superb and the course offers an open front 9 with a
tighter back 9 offering a challenge to all abilities.

GOLF COURSES IN EASTERN AGARVE, PORTUGAL

Located a few kilometres from Tavira, the course has great

views and, whilst it looks a straightforward challenge, care
needs to be taken with unplayable rough and water hazards.

This course has beautiful views over the River Guadiana, the
Nature reserve and the sea beyond. Making full use of the hilly
terrain, the trees, bunkers and water hazards provide a good
challenge to golfers of all standards

Quinta de Cima 72 6256 €97

Located near to Tavira, this course boasts spectacular views

of the mountains and the Atlantic. Many of the fairways have
doglegs to both the left and the right, and hazards abound. A
real challenge.

Quinta da Ria 72 6016 €97

Directly adjacent to Quinta da Cima (above) this course is in a

nature reserve that has the Algarve coast as the southern
boundary. Although the course is not particularly long, it has
five lakes and the greens are generally well defended. Less
difficult than Quinta de Cima but the views are equally superb.

The Northern Course (the first of the two magnificent courses)
opened for play in June 2007. Unsurpassed quality, the tee
times are staggered at 15 minute intervals to provide a truly
