Rabbit Meat used as Food Extender in the making of Burger Patties: Related Article (Source cited below) Rabbits can be raised as pets as well as food for both humans and other animals. When used as food, the meat is usually ground into a hamburger-type consistency and used in myriad recipes. Dog and cat foods often contain ground rabbit meat. In the case of pet foods, the bones of the rabbit are often ground to provide extra nutrients.

Pet Food
According to veterinarian Lisa A. Pierson, DVM, when making cat food with ground rabbit meat, the meat should remain raw and not be cooked. Cats are carnivores and carnivores best retain their nutrients from raw meat. Some nutrients are destroyed in the cooking process. However, there is an option to parboil, or partially boil, the entire carcass before grinding it to make it easier to grind. Make pet food with ground rabbit meat by grinding the entire skinned rabbit. Grind bones, meat and organs such as the liver to a hamburger-like consistency. Add two or three eggs to the mixture. Divide the mixture into individual portions and freeze. You can also purchase pre-ground rabbit meat.

Tacos
Ground rabbit meat can be used in place of ground beef in many recipes. Tacos made with ground rabbit are made the same way as with any ground meat. Brown the ground rabbit in a skillet and add taco seasoning. Fill the taco shells or tortillas with the ground, seasoned rabbit meat. Add garnish like salsa, lettuce, sour cream and shredded cheese.

Sausage
A whole slew of sausages can be made from ground rabbit meat. Some of the many types include Polish Kielbasa, Italian, Greek Loukaniko, breakfast sausage and Roman-style sausages. The differences all depend on the type of seasonings used. Common spices used in many sausage recipes include sage, marjoram, coarse ground pepper and salt. Depending on which type of sausage you are making, mix seasoning with the ground rabbit meat very well. Leave in a covered bowl in the refrigerator for at least two hours before shaping and frying.

Burgers
Rabbit burgers are a simple way to use ground rabbit meat. Mix the meat with finely chopped garlic, parsley, minced onions, bread crumbs and one egg. Store in the refrigerator for one to two hours before shaping into patties. Fry the patties over medium heat until brown all the way through. Ground rabbit burgers can also be grilled. Eat on a bun and garnish with tomato, lettuce, cheese and pickles. Read more: Uses for Ground Rabbit Meat | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/list_7703543_uses-ground-rabbit-meat.html#ixzz1Q6T0ezsJ

How to make an edible protein that can produce from a microorganism?

Spirulina is a photosynthetic, filamentous, spiral-shaped, multi-cellular and green-blue microalgae. The two most important species of which are Spirulina maxima and Spirulina platensis. For these microorganisms cell division occurs by binary fission. Since this material contains chlorophyll a, like higher plants, botanists classify it as a microalgae belonging to Chyanophyceae class; but according to bacteriologists it is a bacterium due to its prokaryotic structure. Before Columbus, Mexicans (Aztecs) exploited this microorganism as human food; presently, African tribes (Kanembu) use it for the same purpose. Its chemical composition includes proteins (55%-70%), carbohydrates (15%-25%), essential fatty acids (18%) vitamins, minerals and pigments like carotenes, chlorophyll a and phycocyanin. The last one is used in food and cosmetic industries. Spirulina is considered as an excellent food, lacking toxicity and having corrective properties against viral attacks, anemia, tumor growth and malnutrition. It has been reported in literature that the use of these microalgae as animal food supplement implies enhancement of the yellow coloration of skin and eggs yolk in poultry and flamingos, growth acceleration, sexual maturation and increase of fertility in cattle.
