Introduction My friends, in todays Gospel we hear that Jesus healed two women, both of whom were considered ritually

unclean. Jesus doesnt heal them from a distance, as he most certainly could have done. Instead, he touches them. As we pray today, let us ask Jesus for the healing we need, and for the grace to reach out to others as the hands and heart of Jesus on this earth.

Weekly Stewardship Thought The heart grateful to God needs to find a way to express that gratitude. Some important ways to do that are through prayer, through service, and through giving of ones resources. Reflection Question Do I recognize the power of God to heal and save? Do I turn to him in my need? How do I encourage those around me to turn to him in their need, especially when they are physically in need of his healing power? Do I have the courage of Jairus, or the woman in the gospel? Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at St. Patricks Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament normally held each Thursday evening in the Church has been suspended until further notice.

Welcome! Last weekend we were happy to welcome little Cerys Victoria Madeiros, daughter of Kurt and Rosemarie, in the sacrament of Baptism. Please remember Cerys, her parents, godparents, grandparents and her whole family in your prayers. CCD Fees are Now Past Due! Parents, please submit your payment of $135 per child (cheques payable to St. Patricks Church) and forms to Mrs. Maria Pacheco or drop off at the Rectory as soon as possible. Alternatively, forms and payment may be delivered directly to Mrs. Essie Hans at the Diocesan Centre on Laffan Street. One Catechist Needed for September St. Patricks Parish is truly grateful to the current CCD catechists who have volunteered their time and talent to teach our young people for the upcoming school year, September 2012 June 2013. However, we are still in need of a Catechist for Grade 6 - and Aides for the start of CCD in September. This rewarding ministry is both challenging and fulfilling. You can expect to spend about three hours a week in preparation and class time. Catholic men and women need to step forward to teach our faith to the young people of our parish. Please speak to Mrs. Maria Pacheco (CCD Coordinator) or call the Rectory at 236-9866 if you are interested in helping. Rev. Jerry Kroetsch, C.R. Recently important, and distressing, news was released from the Provincial Office of the OntarioKentucky Province of the Congregation of the Resurrection. Over the last few months, Fr. Jerry has been losing weight, been very tired, and had difficulty walking. Recent tests revealed that Fr. Jerry has Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or more commonly known as A.L.S., or Lou Gehrigs disease. He is now in a wheel chair, and the weakness is increasing. This has caused his resignation as Assistant Provincial, a responsibility he has capably fulfilled since leaving St. Patricks. Please remember Fr. Jerry in your prayers. This is also the year of his 50 th Anniversary of Ordination to Priesthood. The actual date was April 7, but the Resurrectionists will celebrate the anniversaries of four priests on August 17 in Waterloo. Fr. Jerrys address remains the same: Resurrection Manor, 265 Westmount Road, North, Waterloo ON Canada N2L 3G7, E-mail: jkroetsch@resurrectioncollege.ca I know he would appreciate your prayers and greetings. Peters Pence Collection If you were unable to contribute to the Peters Pence collection last weekend, additional envelopes are available at the entrance to the church for your donation. Catholic Questions and Answers (by Michelle Arnold) Question

Do our beliefs and traditions come from God or are they of human origin? Answer Catholics believe that those doctrinal and moral teachings taught by the Church since the beginning of Christian history were given by Jesus to the apostles and handed on by them to their successors through the centuries (2 Tim. 2:12). These teachings are known as Sacred Tradition. Other Catholic traditions, more aptly called disciplines (e.g., priestly celibacy) and customs (e.g., Advent wreaths), are "manmade" in the sense that they were developed over the centuries by Christians who created them as means to better live out their Christian faith.

Question When we think of Jesus, a humble man comes to mind. But when we think of the pope what comes to mind is a man wearing custom clothing, sitting on the papal throne, with people kissing his ring. Why is there such disparity between Christ and his vicar? Answer When an ambassador is representing his country abroad, should he wear a T-shirt and jeans or formal attire? When taking part in official diplomatic ceremonies, are the marks of honor given the ambassador by his host country for him personally or for the country he represents? In like manner, the pope is the primary ambassador for Christ and for the heavenly kingdom. Formal attire honors the dignity of his office and the Person he represents. Marks of honor given the pope are not for him personally but for Jesus, who he represents.

Smile for the Day! Quick Thinking There is a story about a new clerk in a supermarket. A customer asked him if she could buy half a grapefruit. Not knowing what to do, he excused himself to ask the manager. "Some nut out there wants to buy half a grapefruit..." he began, and, suddenly realizing that the customer had entered the office behind him, continued, ... and this lovely lady would like to buy the other half." The manager was impressed with the way the clerk amicably resolved the problem and they later started chatting. "Where are you from?" asked the store manager. "Lancaster, Pennsylvania," replied the clerk, "home of ugly women and great hockey teams." "Oh, my *WIFE* is from Lancaster," challenged the manager. Without skipping a beat, the clerk asked, "What team was she on?"
