Bridging Tap-Off PCB (BTO) - A circuit board used split the composite
video signal originating at the VCR, DVD player, satellite receiver, or other
suitable A/V source.
RGBS (Red, Green, Blue, Sync) - A format of video describing the way in
which the video is sent over the cable.
TV-Only Monitor - A monitor that is used to display only the video sent from
a VCR or other suitable composite video source. This monitor cannot display
bowler's scoresheet.
When Brunswick supplies the LCD monitors, the center is able to turn the
monitors on/off and switch the scoring monitor between the scoresheet and TV
video through either the control desk or by using the remote control that comes
with the monitors. A TV-Only monitor is also an option. These commercial
quality monitors connect to the scoring system through a Wide Screen
Overhead Interface. The Scoresheet monitor used a Model BI interface while
the TV Only monitor uses the Model TVO interface.
If a bowling center supplies their own Wide Screen monitors, the Brunswick
scoring system converts the signal from the Scoring Computer so that it can be
displayed on the monitors. On/Off control and video switching between the
scoresheet and TV video must be done from the remote control that comes
with the monitor. In addition, the bowling center is responsible for running any
TV signal to the monitors. This type of monitor connects to the scoring system
using the Wide Screen Overhead Interface - Model CI.
Model BI is used for the Scoresheet monitors and can adapt both scoresheet
and TV video signals and provides desk control to turn the monitor on/off and
switch between the TV and Scoresheet video.
Model TVO is used for the TV-Only monitors. It allows for the display of the
TV video and control of the monitor power. It does not provide the scoresheet
video signal. Refer to the figures titled Wide Screen Overhead Interface -
Model BI and Wide Screen Overhead Interface - Model TVO.

converted scorer video. This connector is not present on the TV-only
Interface.
WARNING! Always disconnect the main power cable prior to servicing the inside
of the interface box.
Internally the only difference between the Model BI and Model TVO
interfaces is that they contain the same BI interface contains a Sync Separator
Board (SSB) that allows it to convert the scoresheet video coming from the
scorer computer so that the monitor can display it. Refer to the figure titled

Power Supply
The power supply supplies +12VDC and -12VDC to the Sync Separator board
(SSB) and the Bridging Tap Off board (BTO) and +5VDC to the Serial
Communications Controller (SCC). Refer to the figure titled Power Supply -
Wide Screen Overhead Interface Models BI and TVO.

(1) J1 VIDEO IN - Connection for the video signal coming from the
scoring computer.
(2) J2 POWER IN - Input for the +12VDC , and -12VDC power from the
internal power supply.
NOTE:
This connection is not used when the SSB is installed in the Wide Screen
Overhead Interface - Model CI.
NOTE:
This connection is only used when the SSB is installed in the Wide Screen
Overhead Interface - Model CI.
(4) J4 VGA OUT - Connection for video signal going to the LCD monitor.
A standard DB15 VGA-VGA cable is used for this connection.
(5) JPR2 - Provides appropriate signal ground. Position the jumper across
pins 1 & 2.
(6) JPR3 - Selects which power input (J2 or J3) is being used. For
(7) D9 VSYNC - This LED is lit when VSYNC (Vertical Sync) signal is
present from the scoring computer.
(8) D10 HSYNC - This LED is lit when HSYNC (Horizontal Sync) is
present from the scoring computer.
(9) D11 +5V - This LED is lit when the board is generating +5V power.
(10) D12 +9V - This LED is lit when the board is generating +9V power.
(11) D13 -9V - This LED is lit when the board is generating -9V power.
NOTE:
All 5 LEDs (D9, D10, D13, D14 and D15) should be lit when this board is
powered up and connected to a scoring computer.

(4) J2 RS-485 OUT - RS-485 output to the next SCC board in the daisy
chain. See (1) JP1 RS-485 TERMINATION.
(6) D6 DIR - This LED is lit when the SCC is transmitting data to the
scoring computer through the RS-485 connector.
(7) D7 TX - This LED is lit when there is data is being sent to the scoring
computer from any SCC over the RS-485 line. If the DIR LED is also
"on" when the TX LED is lit, the transmission is being sent by that SCC.
(8) D8 RX - This LED is lit when there is data is being received from the
scoring computer over the RS-485 line. This merely indicates that there
is receive traffic on the line, it may or may not be intended for this
specific SCC If it is, the SCC will respond, and the D6 (DIR) and the
D7 (TX) LEDs will light up briefly (during transmission of the
response).
(9) D9 RS-485 POWER - This LED is lit when the board is receiving
power through the RS-485 IN connector. This DOES NOT imply that
the RS-485 chain is properly terminated, just that there is continuity from
the scoring computer through the RS-485 daisy chain to this SCC. If this
LED is not lit, check your RS-485 connections from this board back to
the scoring computer.
(10) D10 DIAG - When this LED is flashing, it indicates that the board has
finished initializing and it is ready for use. If it is not flashing, there are
problems with the SCC board.
(12) S1 TYPE - Defines how the attached LCD monitor is being used.
(13) S2 ADDRESS - This bank of switches is used to set the lane ID of the
SCC. For scoresheet monitors, set the address to the lane number that
the attached LCD monitor will be used on. For TV-Only monitors that
are located between scoresheet monitors on a lane pair, set the address
to the left lane number of the pair. If the TV located between lane pairs,
use the lane number of the monitor just before it in the chain (Example:
If it's between lanes 4 and 5 , use 4).
When setting the address, each SCCs for a given type (as determined by
S1) in the daisy chain of a scoring computer must have a unique address.
Refer to figure titled Dip Switch Settings - SEC S2 Address Switch
(3) J3 +/- 12V IN - Input for the +/- 12V DC power coming from the
power supply board inside the Wide Screen Overhead Interface box.
(7) D4 +9V - This LED is lit when the board is generating +9V power.
(8) D5 -9V - This LED is lit when the board is generating -9V power.
NOTE:
Both LEDs (D4 and D5) should be lit when this powered on.

Cleaning
General Cleaning
Clean the LCD monitor surface with a lint-free, non-abrasive cloth.
Avoid using any cleaning solution or glass cleaner.
Vent Holes
Keep the vent holes on the back of the LCD clean of dirt and
dust. It is recommended to wipe holes with a soft cloth a
minimum of once per year. If using the internal cooling fan continuously, it’s
recommended to wipe vent holes a minimum of once a month.
Adjustments
Adjust the monitor’s brightness, contrast and sharpness controls
to enhance readability. Refer to the monitor vendor manual for specific
adjustment procedures.
In general, it is important to make sure that any vent holes are clear of
obstructions and the monitors is adjusted and cleaned for optimum readability.
Always check with the manufacturer of your monitor before using any cleaning
solution or glass cleaner.
