Experience

Copy Editor, Office Assistant, Reporter, Marketer, Okemah News Leader, Okemah, OK 2012

I am the copy editor for the Okemah newspaper. I proofread every article, as well as every classified, display, and legal ad, checking for grammatical sense and story/fact/information consistency, in every paper. On the days that I edit the paper, I also serve as the office assistant, answering the phones, taking down orders/ad information, scheduling ads to run, answering questions from the public, handling all money transactions, and just basically filling in where needed. In the past, I held the title of reporter, constructing feature and news stories from interviews, running the gamut of news-source information; I still develop some features as a freelance/contributing writer. Lastly, I have marketed for the News Leader, selling ads to businesses in and around the papers circulation.
Substitute Teacher, Okemah Public Schools, Okemah, OK 2012

I was the long-term substitute for high school Biology I and Zoology from January-March. In the classroom, I was responsible for creating and implementing daily lesson plans, enforcing all conduct codes, disciplining students who misbehaved, and recording attendance and grades. I also had weekly cafeteria duty.
Substitute Teacher, Moss Public Schools, Moss, OK 2011-2012

I substituted for both the high school and elementary schools, supervising and teaching students, whether they were learning their colors or discussing the importance of literature in the world today.
Internship, Fish and Wildlife Service- Division of International Conservation, Arlington, VA 2011

In this internship, I was charged with the responsibilities of editing website news releases and in-house announcements, species report drafts, convention reports, project reports, and Excel spreadsheets.
Teachers Assistant, Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, OK 2011

As part of Northeaster State Universitys curriculum for English capstone completion, I had to spend a semester as a Teachers Assistant with a professor from the English Department. My duties included the revising of students papers, presenting PowerPoints on editing dos and donts, overseeing in-class projects, recording grades and student attendance, and I was also available for specialized tutoring, via email or in person, to all students.
Scholarship Advisement Program Peer Adviser, Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Poteau, OK 2009

It was my complete responsibility as a Peer Adviser to organize all SAP program events on the Carl Albert State College campus. I was also responsible for tutoring, and for informing the Choctaw students on the CASC campus of any and all scholarship opportunities available to them.
