Schrder The Schrder Group was founded in 1907 in Liege, Belgium. Today Schrder brings together a group of companies active in design, manufacture and marketing of lighting fixtures for outdoor applications, mainly in urban lighting, street lighting, tunnel lighting and architectural lighting. In parallel with its technological advances, Schrder has also cng c its geographical expansion, through 45 companies in 34 countries, employing over 2600 people. Schrder wishes to contribute to the growth, wealth and well-being of the area where each company settles its production base. The proximity between the place of production and the place of installation of the fixtures helps to reduce the environmental impact to a minimum. The Schrder companies form a network which has access to common facilities and high-performance equipment for laboratory tests, as well as to Research and Development, assistance for production launches, marketing and communication.

Just Light Schrder The highly skilled team of Just Light Schrder, with decades of experience in unique worldwide architectural lighting projects, is the pulsating rung ng and creative heart of Schrder Group in this specific field. "Passion for innovation" is the concept on which Just Light Schrder built common business strategy: the pursuit of a strong interest towards the technological innovation and of a value-added inherent vn c to a diversified intellectual capital vn tr tu a dng . One of the main points on which the Just Light Schrder working organization has built its foundations is the Total Quality Management, that allows to implement the intensive exploitation khai thc of team work and personal knowledge. We offer you the opportunity to build extraordinary projects together. It is our aim to establish deep and trust-based relationships through lighting designers and architects, in order to satisfy their needs. Our team gives constant on-site support, by offering specific assistance during the complete planning process. Just Light Schrder shares with you its know-how and experience, to create Architectures of Light inspired by Art, Science and Engineering.

Just Light Schrder has the ability to tackle gii quyt complex lighting projects, by a full employment of the company capabilities:

design
direct collaboration with architects, designers and professionals in lighting for the definition of all the planning aspects.

customization
development of luminaires designed for specific applications completely studied internally by designers, mechanical and electronic engineers, photometric technicians, architects and physicists.

control system
complete design and of the lighting system, including telemanagement, such as conveyed waves (truyn sng), DMX 512 and RS 485 communication protocols. Possible combination with sensors or other interactive elements. Integration between lighting and digital controlling systems, extending the possibility of creative effects through the introduction of color management, dimming intensity and tuning (iu chnh) of white. The Just Light Schrder project approach is founded on the development of all the planning steps in strict partnership with architects and lighting designers. The first phase starts with the project analysis, made up by the preliminary s b plan, focused on the lighting concept. The second phase is based on the drafting of the definitive plan, defining the final design of products, luminaire positioning, cabling layout and control system. At last the final phase, that is the working plan, including on-site installation, pre and final tests, programming and after-sale assistance. In contemporary hin nay usage, the term Genius Loci refers to a location's distinctive atmosphere, or to the protective spirit of a place, issued from the classical Roman religion. Just Light Schrder develops every single project by taking into account the genius loci of the location and the multitude of its aspects to be able to create visions with meaning, respecting its original character, to create a complete harmony with its essential nature. Lighting of external spaces in contemporary societies arises as a very complex aspect of the project, that needs specific competences and knowledges in term of art, science and engineering. Our vision of lighting design is that it can help to create a deep integration between the local environment and the human being, developing an improvement of quality of life, through the aesthetical valorization of buildings and places.

TO BE GREE
LIMITING OUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT IS IN ITSELF A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION AND MOTIVATION

The future of our planet and all aspects of human activity are today examined through a green filter. Individuals and companies have become aware of the stakes and their responsibilities. Schrder wants to act green, as an actor in lighting, a source of energy consumption and it is affirming khng nh its priorities, responsibilities and also what sets it apart. The priority is to bring energy consumption under control. The responsibility is to develop products and projects that reduce energy consumption. It is an objective that motivates all the company employees, everyone is focused on this project as each person is aware of its impact on the environment. On our environment.

EMOTION

About 80% of all sensorial impressions are visual stimuli which need light as a vehicle of information capable of transmitting emotional values. It demonstrates the extraordinary importance of light not only in human physiology, but also in social relations, psychology and culture. Life is light. Life is full of natural events where light has the leading role: the rhythmical alternation of sunrise and sunset, the variation of sunlight during the daytime or through seasons and locations. Such spectacular events attract people overwhelmingly, because they awake their emotional sphere through the visual perception. To see color means not only to observe them, but also to feel them. Just Light Schrders vision is based on a the idea of light not only as an expression of feelings, but also as a real entity able to mold shapes and volumes.

AMBIANC

One of the main purposes of architectural lighting is to emphasize the character of spaces and shapes, by the creation of evocative scenarios able to establish an emotional connection between environment and observer . By means of the expert use of light it is possible to characterize architectural spaces with scenografic effects, modifying vision and perception of any type of building. As the solar light, each type of artificial source produces an apparent color or an own shade of white, defined as color temperature, that influences the observation of materials and surfaces. Different materials have a different reaction to the artificial illuminance, depending on the type of lighting adopted: it is possible to recreate natural lighting very similar to the solar day lighting or create an alternative ambience through the use of colors and dynamic variations.

The Casa da Msica, the new home of the National orchestra of Porto, stands on a new public square in the historic Rotunda da Boavista. It has a distinctive faceted form, made of a white concrete b tng, which remains solid and believable in an age of too many icons. Casa da Msica tit l reveals its contents without being didactic khun gio; at the same time, it casts the city in a new light.

For the Casa da Musicas fifth anniversary celebrations, the Pulsing Heart project was devised by Architect Sofia Thenaisie . The energy necessary for the project was supplied by a photovoltaic (quang in c lp chn) system. Of an ephemeral chng tn/ph du nature, the project consisted of the installation of two (indoor) illuminated textile structures, ten meter high. Additionally, an outdoor installation, equipped with high power LED floodlights, seemingly painted the entire buildings faade in red light. The complete installation is controlled with the DMX protocol.

OSCAR NIEMEYER MUSEUM - CURITIBA, BRAZIL

Project team Architect: Oscar Niemeyer Lighting design: Peter Gasper Products applied Floodlights: 400 Focal 100 Corus

1 13

Designed by the Brazilian Architect Oscar Niemeyer, The Oscar Niemeyer Museum is located in Curitiba, in state of Paran. Its design includes a gravity defying construction that was intended to look like a Paran pine, one of the citys symbols, but is widely interpreted by locals as an eye which gave the museum its nickname, the Museum of the Eye. The museum features many of Oscar Niemeyers signature elements: bold geometric forms, sculptural curved volumes, large areas of white painted concrete and areas with vivid murals or paintings.

A type of lighting usually used on stage called footlights brings out the curved shape of Niemeyers work. The solution consists in focusing the beams of light on the edge of the curved structure, using entrenched floodlights set thirty meters away from the monument.

MOSES MABHIDA STADIUM - DURBAN, SOUTH AFRICA

The idea of building an aquarium in Rome originated with Pietro Garganico, an expert in fish breeding (gy ging) and a native of Como who came to Rome in the early 1880s to devote his energies and efforts to the creation in the Italian Capital of a Fish-breeding facility and an aquarium. The talent and the cultural background, as well as the professional experience, of architect Ettore Bernich were responsible for the final form. From 1893 the building was put to a wide variety of uses. Recently the building has been assigned to the Association of Architects of Rome, becoming the Architecture House, an institution for the promotion of the architectural culture, that organizes international exhibitions, meetings and conferences.

The project solution is based on a lighting hierarchy h thng cp bc including two main effects. General lighting for the whole building, creating an homogeneous tnh ng nht and flood illumination. Accent lighting to highlight the architectural details, the front inscription, the shell vault and the columns of the two floors. The installation is totally controlled by DMX protocol, that allows changing of colors depending on seasons, daytime and for particular events.

PIAZZA DELLA LIBERT FOUNTAIN - CUNEO, ITALY

Project team Client: Municipality of Cuneo Lighting design: Guido Arnaudo Products applied Floodlight: 30 ACQUEO dynamic

Corso Giolitti leads to Piazza della Libert where you can find the train station designed by F. Fioretti in Piedmontese baroque style and opened on November 7th, 1937. In the center of the square, a 54 meters high concrete lighthouse, designed by C. Vinaj, stands. It was built in just eighty days and was opened with the station. The octagonal basin of the fountain at the base of the lighthouse was completed, in the spring of 1938.

The purpose of the proposed lighting is to enhance the lighting of the fountains. In order to more accurately determine the opening angle of emission of luminous flux tests were performed directly inside the fountain. The evidence shown that the best result was provided by the projector with an opening angle of 6 , which allowed a deeper penetration into the water, enabling an optimal illumination of the water games. The projectors were divided into four groups in order to diversify the color playing.

The Cathedral of Saint Sava is the largest orthodox cathedral of the Balkans, and one of the largest orthodox cathedrals in the world. With a 70 m high dome and surface area of 3.500 m2 on the ground floor alone, the Saint Sava Cathedral dominates the Belgrade cityscape. The church stages of the construction lasted for many centuries, until 2011 when the church is mostly complete, except for work on the internal decoration of the building.

The illumination of the Saint Sava Cathedral changed the night appearance of Belgrade and now dominates over the night panorama of the city. It respects the form and function of the architectural elements, but also emphasizes the characteristic details, like rosettes and mosaics. The floodlights are installed on the faade and on surrounding poles, but also inside the church, and behind windows. Overall, 1.200 floodlights have been installed. Three scenarios are designed (three selections of floodlights which will be switched on): standard every-night, more rich version and the full festive version. Simulations have already been done by Lisys Lighting Systems PLC, for the lighting of the inside of the cathedral, even though works are not finished yet.

CARREFOUR DE LEUROPE BRUSSELS CENTRAL STATION - BRUSSELS, BELGIUM

Project team Architect: Alain Sarfati Products applied Floodlights: 44 Noctis midi 28 Terra midi 10 Neos 89 Imperia

The building of the Brussels Central Station was inaugurated in 1952 based on a concept by Victor Horta. In 1997, the city of Brussels launches an international contest to renovate the Carrefour de lEurope, the square in front of the stations main entrance, as well as the Boulevard de lImpratrice. The mission is to give the project a contemporary character, to build the neighborhood's identity, and to enable pedestrians, cyclists, drivers and public transport to live together in harmony.

The contest is won by French architect Alain Sarfati. His concept is based on two essential ideas: To include a strong presence of nature in the city; to enable the development of a public space where people can walk and enjoy some tranquility, in the heart of the city. The boulevards are renovated with a central avenue in rambla style, ten meters wide and surrounded with trees. The lighting of the Carrefour de lEurope comes from an illuminated ring dominating the square, which aims at reuniting the square. A horizontal aluminium structure integrates a diffused lighting on the entire surface which underlines the squares central role.
