THE SIXTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

PRAYER UPON ENTERING CHURCH
Dearest Lord Jesus, my precious Savior, You are strong to save for You took my sin to the cross so that I might have Your strength to eternal life. In the weakness of the cross is power unto salvation. Grant me grace sufficient for all of my weaknesses of body and soul and through Your Word empower me to trust only You to provide me with all that I need for this body and life and for the life which is to come. I pray this in Your holy name. Amen

WELCOME
Welcome to Grace! It is our prayer that you will be strengthened in Your faith by the power of Gods Word which is living and active and accomplishes the purpose for which God sent it. The many Scripture Readings in the season of Pentecost teach us what it means to live as one who has been redeemed and justified by the grace of God. That grace of God is sufficient for us as His power is made perfect in weakness. If you are not a member of Grace and wish to learn more about our teachings as drawn from Gods Word please speak with our Pastor. We are glad you are here and we invite you to come and worship with us again. We ask that everyone fill out an attendance registration card found at each pew and return it to an Usher as the Offering is collected. Children are welcome in our Service and will be invited to come forward for a Childrens Message. Parents may accompany them. A nursery for infants and toddlers is located downstairs for anyone who has need.

HOLY COMMUNION
Holy Communion will be celebrated in the 8:15 Service today. In this sacrament we receive Christs very body and blood for the forgiveness of sins. Those who are not members of Grace are asked to speak with our Pastor before partaking of this sacrament so that the unity of faith might be established. Thank you for honoring this request.

AS WE GATHER
St. Paul was convinced that if God would remove the thorn in the flesh from him, he would be a much more effective evangelist and missionary, apostle to the Gentiles. When he persisted in asking God for healing, God told him that he needed to rely on His strength and not his own. We know our weaknesses and we will go to great lengths to hide them. Certainly the Lord knows them too. When we are weak, we also are urged to count on God to work through our weaknesses to get His mission accomplished in and through us. Gods grace is sufficient for us as it delivers us from sin and its death, our greatest weakness.

THE APPOINTED READINGS FOR NEXT SUNDAY, July 15th, The Seventh Sunday after Pentecost, are: The Old Testament Reading: Amos 7:7-15, The Epistle Reading: Ephesians 1:3-14, and The Holy Gospel: Mark 6:1-13.

Invocation

P In the name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit. C Amen

P For the LORD has chosen Zion; C he has desired it for his dwelling place: P This is my resting place forever; C here I will dwell, for I have desired it. P I will abundantly bless her provisions; C I will satisfy her poor with bread. P Her priests I will clothe with salvation, C and her saints will shout for joy. C Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen P Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! C Blessd is the man who takes refuge in him!

Exhortation
P Our help is in the name of the Lord, C who made heaven and earth. P If You, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? C But with You there is forgiveness; therefore You are feared. P Since we are gathered to hear Gods Word, [and] call upon Him in prayer and praise, [and receive the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ in the fellowship of this altar,] let us first consider our unworthiness and confess before God and one another that we have sinned in thought, word, and deed, and that we cannot free ourselves from our sinful

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowl- | edge of God!* How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable | his ways! For from him and through him and to him are | all things.* To him be glory forever. | Amen. C I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made; who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried. And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures and ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. And He will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead, whose kingdom will have no end. And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church, I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins, and I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life T of the world to come. Amen

C I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life T everlasting. Amen

Service of the Sacrament (8:15)

Preface
P The Lord be with you. C And also with you. P Lift up your hearts. C We lift them to the Lord. P Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. C It is right to give Him thanks and praise. P It is truly good, right, and salutary that we should at all times and in all places give thanks to You, O Lord, holy Father, almighty and everlasting God, for the countless blessings You so freely bestow on us and all creation. Above all, we give thanks for Your boundless love shown to us when You sent Your only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ, into our flesh and laid on Him our sin, giving Him into death that we might not die eternally. Because He is now risen from the dead and lives and reigns to all eternity, all who believe in Him will overcome sin and death and will rise again to new life. Therefore with angels and archangels and with all the company of heaven we laud and magnify Your glorious name, evermore praising You and saying:
2 Timothy 4:22; Colossians 3:1; Psalm 136

Prayer of Thanksgiving
P Blessed are You, O Lord our God, king of all creation, for You have had mercy on us and given Your only-begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. In Your righteous judgment You condemned the sin of Adam and Eve, who ate the forbidden fruit, and You justly barred them and all their children from the tree of life. Yet, in Your great mercy, You promised salvation by a second Adam, Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, and made His cross a life-giving tree for all who trust in Him. We give You thanks for the redemption You have prepared for us through Jesus Christ. Grant us Your Holy Spirit that we may faithfully eat and drink of the fruits of His cross and receive the blessings of forgiveness, life, and salvation that come to us in His body and blood. Hear us as we pray in His name and as He has taught us:

Lord's Prayer
C Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen

The Words of Our Lord

P Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night when He was betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and gave it to the disciples and said: Take, eat; this is My T body, which is given for you. This do in remembrance of Me. P In the same way also He took the cup after supper, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, saying: Drink of it, all of you; this cup is the new testament in My T blood, which is shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.
