Course: PD02 Unit: 3 Activity: 1,2 & 3 Page: 14 & 15 Objectives: To enable students to use the verb to be for describing peoples nationalities. ACTIVITY INTERACTION PROCEDURE T class 1. Teacher asks the question: what are some large cities in the country? To haves students identify some cities and countries. T-S 2. Teacher asks different students about the location of some cities. T: Where is Tokyo? S: Its in Japan. SS 3. Teacher asks student A to ask student B about the location of any city. Ex. Snapshot A->B: Where is Lima? B->A: Lima is in Peru. The activity continues with other two students. TS 4. Teacher asks students to look at the chart on the book while they listen to the audio. TS 5. Teacher plays the audio and students repeat. TS 6. Teacher demonstrates students the matching task and students do the exercise on the book; finally students compare their answers. TS 1. Teacher presents the activity by asking different students about the nationalities of famous people (Obama, Bill Gates, Ronaldinho,etc.) Ex. T: Where is Obama from? S: Hes from USA. 2. Teacher asks students to think about a country and write it down on a piece of paper. 3. Teacher asks some students about their nationalities. Ex. T: Where are you from? S: I am from China. 4. Student A asks student B about his/her nationality. Ex. A->B: Where are you from? B ->A: I am from Russia. 5. Ss look at the picture on the book. 6. Teacher asks Ss to describe the illustration.

7. Teacher plays the audio and students listen 1 carefully. 8. Teacher practices the conversation with some 5 students and then students practice it in pairs. 1. Teacher plays the audio to present the 2 information in the box. Students listen and read. 2. Teacher plays the audio again or models the 1 sentences line by line. 3. Teacher demonstrates how to complete the 2 grammar box in the book. 4. Teacher asks students to complete the 4 conversations and then practice them in pairs. POSSIBLE PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS Problem: Some Ss may not understand the instructions. Solution: Teacher checks comprehension by asking students to paraphrase the instructions. Problem: Ss may not understand the audio. Solution: Teacher models the conversation slowly.
