Lab Practice # 6 AMPLITUDE MODULATION IN SIMULINK Objectives Generating the basic Amplitude Modulated Signal using Simulink. Purpose: Amplitude modulation (AM), still widely used in commercial radio today, is one of the simplest ways that a message signal can modulate a sinusoidal carrier wave. The purpose of this lab is for you to gain familiarity with the concepts of amplitude modulation by drawing the basic circuit diagram of AM in Simulink. Amplitude Modulation Amplitude modulation (AM) is a technique used in electronic communication, most commonly for transmitting information via a radio carrier wave. AM works by varying the strength of the transmitted signal in relation to the information being sent. Designing and Simulating an AM Modulator Based on the block diagram for an AM modulator, build your model using the blocks available in different libraries and sub libraries of Simulink.

Review Questions
1. The constant acts as a Bias (Brass Instruments Analysis System) to distinguish between two important types of amplitude modulation called DSB-SC and DSBwith large carrier.

2. AM signal is more susceptible to noise because of limited bandwidth. Noise alter the amplitude during transmission

3. Advantages of AM:

AM uses a narrower bandwidth than FM, allowing more users in a smaller space.
AM Circuit is cheaper and non complex than FM.

AM is long distance propagation
