The contractor will be paid only for the quantity as worked out based on drawing dimensions ( final pit dimensions) and not for the additional excavations carried out for providing slope etc for safety considerations. This shall be deemed to be considered and included in excavation rates. Similarly for for back filling of excavated area no extra will be paid. 4) If the excavation is done beyond specified depth, the additional depth excavated shall be filled by 1:4:8 concrete by the contractor at his cost. 5)All excavations shall be kept free of water. Grading in the vicinity of excavations shall be controlled to prevent surface water running into excavated areas. The contractor shall remove by pumping all the water inclusive of rain water ans sub soil water accumulated in excavation and keep the pit dewatered until the construction of foundation structure is complete. Sumps made for dewatering must be kept clear of the foundations. 6) It is the responsibility of the contractor to take all necessary steps to prevent the sides of trenches and pits from collapsing by using necessary timber shoring or sheet piling. 7) As soon as the work in foundations and pits has been accepted and measured, the spaces around the pit/ foundations shall be cleared of all debris and filled with earth in layers of about 15 cm , watered, rammed and properly consolidated before succeeding layer is laid.
