The Craft Of Technical & Scientific Writing & Presentation is a two-day workshop, Technical & Scientific Writing on Day 1 and Technical & Scientific Presentation on Day 2. This is a complete workshop which will transform your ability to communicate clearly and memorably, in both written and oral form, about your technical & scientific work. These interactive workshops will provide direct opportunity for you to make progress on both a written document and a presentation of your work. PROFILE
Holding a master of science in electrical engineering and a master of fine arts in writing, Michael Alley is an associate professor of engineering communication at Pennsylvania State University. He is the author of three textbooks: The Craft of Scientific Presentations (2003), The Craft of Editing (2000), and The Craft of Scientific Writing (1996). Over the past twenty years, he has taught technical writing and presentations to engineering and science students at Penn State, the University of Texas, the University of Wisconsin, and Virginia Tech. In addition, his professional communication workshops have been held across the United States and in Europe. Sites include Harvard Medical School, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and the Environmental Protection Agency. Alley is the founder and lead editor for the popular web-site Writing Guidelines for Engineering and Science Students, which has a half-million visitors each year and is the first Google listing for the topic of en engineering writing. The research on PowerPoint by his Pe Penn State team is being featured in an upcoming do documentary Rethinking PowerPoint by Ron Galloway.
