Cometary Adept

Note: This is an adaptation of the Green Star Adept class presented in Complete Arcane Once each generation, the comet Alhazardethe legendary Blue Starvisits the night skies, a portent of great and terrible events. Beneath its cerulean light, kings rise or fall,weird monsters and magical plagues appear to scour the land, and strange and ancient secrets are revealed. Glorious and sinister auroras glimmer in the dusk for weeks on end, and from time to time shooting stars of burning saphire fall from the sky. These fallen stars are the only known source of starmetal, a rare and precious ore infused with mighty magical power. A Cometary adept is the master of the strange and powerful magic derived from Alhazardes glittering blue starmetal. He travels the land, searching for more of the comets fallen substance and mastering its eldritch power. Requirements Base Attack Bonus: +4 Feats: Incarnum Fortified Body Skills: Decipher Script 2 ranks, Knowledge (arcana) 8 ranks, Knowledge (architecture and Engineering) 2 ranks, Knowledge (geography) 2 ranks, Knowledge (history) 2 ranks Meldshaping: Must be able to bind to any chakra, must be able to have 3 soulmelds shaped at once Special: Must acquire a piece of starmetal weighing at least 2 ounces, powder it, and consume it by drinking it in a specially prepared infusion. This infusion requires arcane reagents costing 1,000 gp and takes one week to prepare. Hit Die: d10 Skill Points: 2 + int mod per level. Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Cometary adepts gain proficiency with all simple and martial weapons. They gain no proficiency with armor or shields. Meldshaping: As shown on the table above, you gain an increased soulmeld capacity, essentia pool, and number of soulmelds and chakra binds as if you had gained a level in a pre-existing meldshaping class, but not any other benefits (unless mentioned), such as bonus feats or chakra binds. All other class features are as the Green Star Adept class. When the Cometary Adept becomes a Construct he is no longer limited by his Contitution score when determining the number of Soulmelds he can shape. If the DCs of any of his Soulmelds rely on Constitution, he may substitute his Wisdom Modifier. In addition, he may invest Essentia into his body as if it were a Soulmeld. For every Essentia invested, he gains 10 points of temporary hp.

Inheritor of the Mishtai

Untold ages ago, the Mishtai, a now extinct race of reptillian humanoids, first harnessed the power of Incarnum to build their fragile civillization on the shores of the Painted Foot lands. After many centuries, incursions of Orcs from across the Swollen Ocean and a horrible famine wiped out the Mishtai to a man, leaving only their descendants, the Rilkans and Skarns (both detailed in Magic of Incarnum), as well as several other reptillian races. But their legacy did not end there. The offspring of this progenitor race that are skilled in Meldshaping sometimes notice strange, oily blue souls when they create their Soulmelds. A few can specifically utilize these ancient souls to enhance their soulmelds, and these adepts are known as Inheritors of the Mishtai. Detect Incarnum (Sp): At 1st level, the Inheritor of the Mishtai can cast Detect Incarnum (Magic of Incarnum pg. 101) at will, with your character level as the caster level. Mishtai Souls (Su): Whenever the Inheritor of the Mishtai shapes his soulmelds for the day, he may select one soulmeld per two class levels to form out of Mishtai souls. Soulmelds formed of Mishtai souls treat your Meldshaper level as 4 higher than it actually is for determining level based effects and maximum essentia. Inherit Body (Ex): When determining how many Soulmelds an Inheritor of the Mishtai can shape for the day, treat his Constitution score as 4 higher. Ancient Chakras (Ex): Begining at 4th level, the Inheritor of the Mishtai may add his class level to any one other class to determine what chakra binds (such as hands, feet etc.) he has access to. Channel the Mishtai (Sp): Once per day per class level, the Inheritor of the Mishtai may cast Channel the Mishtai (Magic of Incarnum page 99), using his class level as the caster level. Regardless of race, the Inheritor of the Mishtai always may roll a d10 to determin the result. Incarnum Heritage (Ex): The Mishtai pioneered not only meldshaping, but the creation of soulmelds. At 7th level, the Inheritor of the Mishtai may select any one Soulmeld that does not appear on his class list of Soulmelds, and forevermore treat as if it were on his class list. Channel the Mishtai (Greater) (Sp): The Inheritor of the Mishtai now may cast Greater Channel the Mishtai instead of the lesser version. This replaces his ability to cast the regular form of Channel the Mishtai. Regardless of race, the Inheritor of the Mishtai may choose any of the ten spirits, and he may cannel the same spirit multiple times in one week unlike regular spellcasters. Prime Mishtai Soul (Su): At 9th level, the Inheritor of the Mishtai can better utilize the souls of his ancestors to create soulmelds. He may select one Soulmeld per day to be formed of a Prime Mishtai soul, one which was once a great leader or pioneer amoung the ancient race. That Soulmeld may be invested with an additional point of Essentia, and may be bound to two chakra binds instead of one. Investing essentia improves the benefits of both chakra binds.

Mishtai Apothesis (Ex): At tenth level the Inheritor of the Mishtai becomes more like his ancestors. His scales turn midnight blue, his face elongates, his nose (if any) shrinks, his eyes enlarge and he grows a small yellow frill on the back of his neck. This transformation changes his type to Monstrous Humanoid if it was not already, and provides a +2 racial bonus to both Wisdom and Constitution. In addition, the Inheritor of the Mishtai's natural armor increases by +1. Finally, the Inheritor of the Mishtai may invest incarnum in his frill as if it were a soulmeld. It cannot be a Prime Mishtai Soul soulmeld, or a regular Mishtai Soul soulmeld, nor modified by feats in any way. For every point invested, the Inheritor of the Mishtai may treat his cless level as 1 higher for level dependent effects such as how many Mishtai Souls he may bind, his caster level for Channel the Mishtai, and what he adds to other classes to determine avaliable Chakra binds.

Abberant Soulbinder

There are things on this world that are not right. Dreams of an imprisoned god walk the earth as easily as men, entire cultures worship a glittering, apocalpytic slime and the minds of innumerable mortals hide terriable, unknowable monsters. Amoung these abominations are the Abberant Soulbinders; meldshapers who utilize their talents make themelseves disturbing, grusome monsters. Their motivations are their own, but all are debased and immoral. Abberant Soulbinders often find themselves aligned with evil abberations such as Beholders, Mind Flayers, and even worse, Pseudonatural entities. Weapon and armor proficency: Abberant Soulbinders gain proficency with all simple weapons, with light armor and all shields. Incarnum Abomination (Su): An Abberant Soulbinder may invest Essentia in this class feature when he ninds his soulmelds for the day. For every point of Essentia invested, his form becomes more and more grotesque, and grants additional abilities. 1 Essentia: The Abberant Soulbinder gains a 10 ft wide sickening aura, the DC of which is 10+Class Level+Essentia invested in this class feature. Creatures who fail a Fortitude save are sickend for one round per point of Essentia invested. 2 Essentia: The Abberant Soulbinder gains a natural Tentacle attack. This has a reach of 5ft and deals d4 damage +the Abberant Soulbinder's strength modifier, or 1/2 his strength modifier amount if used as a secondary attack. In addition, the the Abberant Soulbinder gains an enchantment bonus to attack and damage rolls equal to the amount of Essentia invested. 3 or more Essentia: The Abberant Soulbinder gains a gaze attack, which he may direct at a single target as a standard action. The DC of this ability is 10+Class Level+Essentia Invested. Should a targeted creature fail a will save, it takes a penalty on all further attack rolls and will saves equal to the amount of essentia invested in this class feature. This effect lasts one round per essentia invested in this class feature. Meldshaping: As shown on the table above, you gain an increased soulmeld capacity, essentia pool, and number of soulmelds and chakra binds as if you had gained a level in a pre-existing meldshaping class, but not any other benefits (unless mentioned), such as bonus feats or chakra binds. Mutant Soul (Ex): At second level, the Abberant Soulbinder's Meldshaping becomes enhanced through abberitional powers. When he shapes his soulmelds for the day, he may take an amount of Wisdom burn to gain several benefits. Wisdom burn cannot be reduced (such as through the Strongheart vest) or recovered in any way until 24 hours after it is suffered. For every point of Wisdom burned, the Abberant Soulbinder gains 1 Essentia, which lasts 24 hours. For every 2 points burned, he may shape an additional soulmeld (unless his constitution score would not otherwise let him). For evey 4 points burned, he may treat his Meldshaper level as 1 higher. A Abberant Soulbinder may not burn so much Wisdom that it drops below 3. Chakra Bind (Heart): At third level the Abberant Soulbinder may bind Soulmelds to his heart chakra. Grusome Meldshaping (Ex): Whenever a third level Abberant Soulbinder shapes a Soulmeld that grants him natural attacks, he may instead make that attack a Tentacle attack. The attack deals the same amount of damage, but is bludgeoning damage only. Should any of these soulmelds have more than 3 Essentia invested in them, the reach of the tentacles extends to ten feet. Unnatural Countanance (Ex): At fourth level, the Abberant Soulbinder's appearance becomes grossly mutated and warped, even when not bound to any soulmelds. He takes a permanant -4 penalty to Diplomacy, Gather Information and Charsima checks (except Intimidate), and gains a +4 bonus to Intimidate. While he has soulmelds occupying his chakras, his Natural Armor increases by the number of chakras he has bound. For Example, Gwain is a 7th Totemist and a 4th level Abberant Soulbinder. He binds a soulmeld to his heart and totem chakras, giving him a +2 natural armor bonus. Farspawn: At fifth level, the Abberant Soulbinder undergoes a disturbing transformation. His type chagnes to Abberation, and he permanantly loses 2 points of Charisma, but gains 2 Points of CON. A pair of tentacles grow from his back. . He may use these as natural weapons, and deal the same amount of damage as the tentacle gained from Incarnum Abomination, and it gains any enchantment bonus that tentacle may possess from invested Essentia. Furtormore, if he inevests 2

points of essentia in this class feature, at will he may change his form into that of a roiling mass of flesh and tentacles, a sphere of gnashing teeth and black, wiry hair or some other grusome form. In this form he loses use of his hands and feet, as well as any items or soulmelds bound there. However his speed is unchanged, he gains an additional +1 natural armor, becomes immune to Critical Hits and Stunning, and may make one additional tentacle attack at a -5 penalty to hit.

Erraldoi

Translated loosely from Giant, Erraldoi means 'us'. Long ago, before the Mishai's fall, some giants learned the art of Incarnum from the ancient reptiles, both through conflict and through trade. It is said, and usually true, that Giants never forget. And so it is that the giants crude but efficent style of Meldshaping has survived to this very day. Erraldoi are nexusus of exsistence; a being who while living, makes tools of the dead and unborn. Giants will travel cross oceans and mountains to seek their knowledge on events both past and futere. Erraldoi, though few and far between, can efficently use their Meldshaping to fortell the futere, commune with the dead and discern the present truth. Weapon and armor proficency: Erraldois gain proficency with all simple and martial weapons, and all armors and shields (except tower shields). Incarnum Divination (Sp): At 1st level, the Erraldoi can use Meldshaping to prophesise and influence fate. You may invest essentia in this class feature when you shape your soulmelds for the day. You may select a assortment of Divination spells, which you may cast as spell like abilities, which you may cast once each over the day. The total spell levels you gain cannot excede the Essentia you invest in this class feature. Your caster level is equal to your class level For example , if you invest one point of essentia, you could get one first level divination spell as a spell-like ability once per day. If you invested two, you could gain two first level spells or one second. Regardless of wether they were cast or not, you lose access to those spell-like abilities when you shape soulmelds the next day, Whispers of the Dead (Ex): The Erraldoi may commune with the dead souls of the world to learn about what has come before him. He may request a bonus on any one specific skill, once per day. The ancestors grant him temporary knowledge of that skill, bestowing a competence bonus equal to the Erraldoi's Charisma modifier plus his class level. It does not matter if the Erraldoi already possesses any ranks in this skill or not; the Erraldoi can use the skill even if he is untrained in its use or cannot normally use it. The bonus lasts for a number of rounds equal to 1 plus the Erraldoi's Charisma bonus. At 5th level and 10th levels thereafter, the Erraldoi may use this power an additional time per day. At 9th level, the Erraldoi may choose to ask the ancestors' advice, rather than seeking their aid with skills. Instead of a skill bonus, he may choose to ask them questions, as per the commune spell cast by a cleric of his class level. He may do this only once per day; any other uses of ancestral communion during that day must be requests for help with a skill. Giant's Constitution (Ex): A level three Erraldoi, regardless of race, is toughend by his constant contact with probing, questioning souls. He may treat his Constitution score as if it were 2 higher for the purpose of determining the number of Soulmelds he can shape, as well as the DCs of them. Insight of the Newborn (Ex): At 4th level, an Erraldoi can communicate not only with the souls of the dead, but with the unborn as well. This ability functions like Bardic Knowledge, except it utilizes the Erraldoi's Charisma modifier. In addition, he may add one-half his class level to all Knowledge checks and Insight of the Newborn checks. Chakra Binds: At 6th level, you may bind soulmelds to your arms, brow and shoulder chakras. At 9th level you gain access to the waist chakra bind. At tenth level you gain access to the soul chakra. Adept Spirit (Sp): At seventh level, once per day per class level you may cast Adept Spirit (Magic Of Incarnum page 98), at a caster level equal to your hit dice. Student of Fate (Su): At seventh level, Once per day per soulmeld you have shaped, you may call upon the spirits stored in your soulmeld for guidance as a free action. You may only use this ability once per turn. You gain one of the following benefits:

Make an additional Swift action this trun Unbind one soulmeld, and instantly replace it with another. You may only invest 1/2 the maximum amount of essentia in this new soulmeld. Gain an insight bonus equal to his Charisma modifier on one attack roll, save or damage roll Re-roll miss chance when attacking an incoporeal or invisible target Mountain's Honesty (Su): At eigth level, spirits actively aid the Erraldoi in learning truths. He is surronded by a constant Zone of Truth, the DC of which is 10+1/2 your HD+your CHA modifier, and the caster level is 20. He is not subject to it's effects. You may enable or disable this aura as a free action, but someone who sucessfully saves against it once is immune to it's effects for 24 hours.
