Nathan Schwartz-Salant has a Ph.D. in Engineering Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Diploma in Analytical Psychology from the C.G. Jung Institute Zürich.He is a member of the International Association for Analytical Psychology {IAAP} and has been practicing as a Jungian analyst for almost fifty years. Dr. Schwartz-Salant is currently in private practice in Blue Hill, Maine.His first book, Narcissism and Character Transformation: The Psychology of Narcissistic Character Disorders, published by Inner City Books in 1982, is a classic in the Jungian field.He is the author of The Mystery of Human Relationship: Alchemy & the Transformation of the Self, The Borderline Personality: Vision & Healing, and The Black Nightgown: The Fusional Complex & the Unlived Life. He is also the editor of the book, Jung on Alchemy.Dr. Schwartz-Salant was a co-founder – along with fellow Jungian analyst Murray Stein – of Chiron Publications, and co-edited a number of volumes in the Chiron Clinical Series.Recently, he contributed the chapter "Healthy Presidential Narcissism: Is That Possible?" for the popular book, A Clear and Present Danger: Narcissism in the Era of Donald Trump, that came out during the 2016 presidential campaign.His latest book, published in April, is The Order-Disorder Paradox: Understanding the Hidden Side of Change in Self and Society, and is the subject of our talk.This interview was recorded on June 29, 2017.
