This episode reviews the management of IgE-mediated food allergies in children. At the end of the podcast, listeners will be able to define food allergy, develop and approach to the history and physical examination of a child with an allergic reaction to food, describe how a food allergy is diagnosed, discuss the treatment of allergic reaction to food, and outline long term risk reduction strategies for a food allergy. This podcast was developed by Cary Ma, a medical student at University of Alberta, in collaboration with Dr. Yarden Yanishevsky, a pediatric allergist, assistant professor and section head of pediatric allergy at the University of Alberta and Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta.
