WHAT IS ORIENTATION/INDUCTION
Orientation is the initial T&D effort for new employees that strive to inform them about the company, the job and understanding of the organisation and its goals. Orientation is meant to educate new employees about the goals and responsibilities of the position and company, as well as to answer any questions they may have about HR, benefits and payroll information. Induction is the process of introducing new employees to the company, to their supervisors and co-workers (if there are any), and to their jobs.
TYPES OF INDUCTION
OVERVIEW ORIENTATION - deals with the basic information an employee will need to understand the broader system he or she works in. These include the following components:
Overview of the company Key organisation policies and regulations Compensation policy Employee fringe benefits and services Health and safety in the organisation Employee and union relations Organisation facilities
TYPES OF ORIENTATION
JOB SPECIFICATION ORIENTATION - the process that is used to help employees understand:
function of the organization, and how the employee fits in job responsibilities, expectations, and duties policies, procedures, rules and regulations layout of workplace introduction to co-workers and other people in the broader organization.
