Introduction
Since the electronic computer was developed the 1940s,the number of ways of transferring data into a computer has increased as computer have been put to more and more user. At one time the keyboard , punched card and paper tape ware the mainstay of computer input, but new methods were developed to meet the demands of new computer user.

Input is data that fed into computer to in process by which data would be turned to digital signal form to may be understood by computer . Way entrance data Insert by trans kriktif- data insert inside document such as fill up form and later insert inside the computer by human.

Key board
The keyboard is at present the most widely used input device ,but it is also the most inefficient in terms of its speed of input. Typical computer keyboard -it has five specialist section : 1. The numeric keypad o Is designed to allow the efficient input of a large volume of numbers

2. The function keys -allow commonly used operations to be performed at the touch of a single key 3. The cursor control keys -the movable marker that is used to show the place where the next character entered is to be display. 4. The editing keys -provide facilities for inserting, deleting, and moving through the text. 5. The qwerty keyboard -to enter text and commands to the computer.

The mouse is a hand-held devices:I. Associated software II. Enables the user to move the cursor around a VDU screen without using the cursor control keys The mouse was developed in order to get over the problem that non-typists had with using a keyboard to communicate with the computer.

Touch screens
Touch screens, like the mouse, are designed to avoid the use of a computer keyboard when using menu-driven software. In order to select from a menu of choices displayed on a touch screen, the user will simply touch the appropriate icon or other reference on the screen.

Voice input
Voice input is still in its early stages of development and, although it is possible to program a computer to respond to voice commonds,voice input has not as yet found a wide application. The voice-recognition system at present being developed are of two types:i. Discrete-word recognition ii. Continuous-speech recognition

Bar-code readers
Bar codes are an arrangement of vertical bars and spaces that can be read by an optical scanner and used as a means of identifying products or stock items. Bar codes can be seen on most products purchased in supermarket, inside library books, and on such items as freezers and computer.

Document reader
Document-based data input satisfies the needs of both the user and the computer, since these documents can be read by humans as well as by machine. This form of data input is used where there is a need to be able to process large volume of similar document, like cheques or gas bill, quickly.

Optical character recognition (OCR)


Optical character recognition (OCR) is a system that enable information to be automatically read from a printed document. There are two typefaces or fonts that have been specially designed for OCR, called OCR-A and OCR-B, although modern OCR scanner can recognize type and neatly handwritter(printer) material.
