Why
We can create better and more effective eLearning by making better use of learning objectives. They can help in:
designing personalizing tracking and tracing evaluating connecting to the business

Goal
The goal of this presentation is to explore how to:
connect learning to the business (goals) translate business goals in learning objectives design courses based on learning objectives measure progress based on learning objectives use learning objectives to individualize eLearning courses report on learning objectives

Action Mapping
1. Identify the business goal 2. Identify what people need to do (instead of need to know), translate them into actions 3. Design a (real world) activity for each action that help people practice each behavior 4. Identify what people really (really?) need to know, add that information

Action Mapping plus .

If you use learning objectives you will add:
Instructional design support A better way to inform the learner on goals and progress Personalize the eLearning experience (on a course and a curriculum level) Connect your learning outcome to business goals

My approach

Identify the business goals 1. Identify the business goals

Connect to the right people/departments in your organization, be part of the process

Identify the business goals 2. Create learning objectives

Determine what people need to be able to do to fulfilthe business goals
Talk to the business

Determine what they already can do

Perform a baseline if possible

Determine the learning gap

In skills and knowledge

Identify the business goals 3. Design your curriculum

Make a high level design of your learning interventions
Base them on your learning objectives Make sure they are in Action terms

You can report on learning objectives in Scorm
Make sure your LMS supports this Invest in proper reports.

6. Evaluate learning outcome
