UnitedHealth Group Inc said it would buy a 90

percent stake in Amil Participacoes SA, Brazil's largest health insurer and hospital operator, for $4.9 billion, tapping into a fast-growing private healthcare market as challenges mount for its U.S. business. Marathon Petroleum Corp said on Monday it has signed a definitive agreement to purchase BP's Texas City refinery, three intrastate natural gas pipelines and other assets in a deal worth up to $2.5 billion. NBT Bancorp Inc said it agreed to buy Alliance Financial Corporation in a deal valued at about $233.4 million to expand its footprint in New York.

Kraft Foods Europe, which is being integrated in

spun-off snack giant Mondelez International, is buying Italy's Vitasnella snack brand from French foods maker Danone for an undisclosed sum as part of its consolidation plans in Europe. Sprint Nextel Corp is considering making a rival bid for MetroPCS Communications Inc, which agreed on Wednesday to a merger with Deutsche Telekom AG's T-Mobile USA, according to people familiar with the situation. German foods group Zertus agreed to buy UK-based chocolate maker Zetar Plc in a 43 million pound ($70 million) deal that gives the group its first inroad into the British confectionary market.

EU antitrust regulators have set a Nov. 8 deadline

to decide on whether to allow trader Glencore's $33 billion takeover of miner Xstrata, after months of talks which the companies hope will help avoid forced sales or a lengthier, in-depth probe. Deutsche Telekom and MetroPCS said they will merge their U.S. mobile operations to create a larger fourth-place player better able to compete with rivals.

Autodesk acquires Pramatis Qontext


Nasdaq-listed Autodesk Inc has acquired

Qontext, an enterprise social collaboration software, and its 25-member development team from Hyderabad-based Pramati Technologies for an undisclosed amount. The $1.95-billion Autodesk is a leader in professional and personal 3D design, engineering and entertainment software. The acquisition is expected to accelerate its ongoing move to the cloud and expansion of social capabilities in the Autodesk 360 cloudbased service. The acquisition will give VLCC access to

Southeast Asian market and Asia rights for American cosmetics brand Skin Nutrition In 2010 Wyann signed an agreement with Skin Nutrition International, an American maker of antiageing, specialist skin-care and cellulite treatment products, for its distribution rights across Asia.
Recently, VLCC was planning to raise R250 Cr

through PE for international expansion and acquisitions. The company is planning two to three acquisitions in the next two quarters.
