Recent eHI survey of CCIO network (n=114) revealed CCIO interest and focus areas:

eHealth Competency Framework

Defining the Role of the Expert Clinician

Created to help address the recognition that a number of clinicians were taking on the role

of e-health leads but were generally self-taught enthusiasts with no formal qualification
The Scottish Government provided funds to support the work through the Academy of

Medical Royal Colleges and the framework was launched June 2011
Planned for deaneries to sponsor clinical trainees through the programme but

unfortunately resource too restricted and support not forthcoming

Planned to keep it up-to-date

with experience of trainees completing but not yet achieved

Tools for assessment were to

be based on those used by medial colleges including case-based discussion. Over time hoped to develop a more formalised assessment.
