Monsoon - July to September when monsoon rains sweep across the country with daily torrential downpours and a high possibility of flooding making travel difficult in all areas except the northwest. Duration of monsoons may vary in different regions by several weeks. Cool - The months from October to February are some of the best times to visit as the weather is very pleasant with minimal rainfall in most places. Hot - March to June witnesses temperatures that can soar above average making the hot season unbearable and the hazy, dustladen air can hamper views. Many people head to "hill stations" which provide a welcome relief from the extreme heat of the lowlands.
1.Passport
Requirements:
Original, signed passport valid for 6 months from day of application, and with at least two blank visa pages for Indian visa stamps. Amendment pages are not acceptable for visa stamps.
3.Photo Requirements:
Two recent 2 x 2 passport type photographs, in color, front view and with a plain/white background. Glasses should not be worn in these photos; photos should not be stapled to the application. OR - you can upload a passport photo to the Global Service Order Form when you place your order, instead of providing physical passport photos.
Minors Signing the Application Form: A minor child should sign their name inside the signature box under the photo on first page of the application. If the child is too young to sign their name, the childs thumbprint must be stamped
inside the signature box under the photo on first page of the application. The childs signature or thumbprint AND both parents signatures must be included on the second page of the visa application form.
6.Other Requirements:
Indian visas allow multiple entries into the country, however, there must be a gap of at least 2 months between two visits to the country on a Tourist Visa or the traveler must have a re-entry permit. No re-entry permit is needed if the visa holder is traveling to multiple countries on the same itinerary and the trip follows the itinerary exactly. In this case the visa holder must carry a copy of the itinerary to show the Immigration Officer. All other applicants seeking permission to enter India multiple times within two months must apply for a re-entry permit.

For Applicants of Indian Origin: There are additional procedures and visa requirements for applicants of Indian origin. Please carefully review the requirements for applicants of Indian origin and include all necessary documents and fees with the visa application.

The Palace-on-Wheels (round-trips through the state of Rajasthan) and the Deccan Queen (west coast including Goa)allow you to travel the country for days without having to change your bed. Sight-seeing, excursions and meals in the lunch on car of the train are included. Roads On India's roadways buses of various categories are operated at regular intervals. They connect many towns which cannot be reached by plane or rail. Especially favored among travelers is the renting of a car with a driver.
