Version 1.0
The ANSYS TurboSystem is a new feature in ANSYS 11.0 The assisted workflow is a set of three new project page tasks that automate the process of setting up and running a single blade analysis, including meshing, solving, and report generation This functionality is an alternative to the BladeGenPlus analysis capability (Legacy product)

TurboSystem Tasks
Training Manual
New blade CFD simulation Starts CFX-Pre in Turbo Mode with selected mesh
Version 1.0
Solid model creation is automatic Meshing is automatic Named selections created for hub, shroud, etc. Periodic interface specified Inflation created on hub, shroud and blade
Version 1.0
Mesh parameters based on cmdb template (BladeModeler/BladeEditor/etc/ template.cmdb) Mesh size can be adjusted by changing the Mesh Scale Factor (MSF) in CFX-Mesh Default MSF is 0.6 Larger meshes produced for tall thin axial blades than for radial blades CFX-Mesh MSF preference has no effect on template MSF, only on new mesh sessions
Version 1.0
CFX-Mesh is fairly robust with the default template settings, but can fail for usual reasons: edit in CFX-Mesh to diagnose and fix the problem Mesh is relatively coarse, but finer than typical meshes produced in BladeGenPlus (No inflation on hub/shroud in BG+) May need to add mesh controls to resolve details, e.g. the wake region downstream of the blade
3/23/2007 2007 ANSYS, Inc. All rights reserved. BladeModeler 11.0 ANSYS, Inc. Proprietary
Version 1.0
What is new in ANSYS Turbo Pre 11.0? Minor changes made to CFX-Pre Turbo Mode:
Machine Type specified in Basic Settings Slight changes to Component Definition
Turbo CCL data now passed to CFX-Post for turbo initialization and report creation Must write def file from Turbo Mode to get full benefit of the Turbo CCL data, otherwise only subset of information is passed
3/23/2007 2007 ANSYS, Inc. All rights reserved. BladeModeler 11.0 ANSYS, Inc. Proprietary
Version 1.0
Compression/expansion efficiency variables written to res file by default for compressible fluids when using Turbo Mode; the global efficiency values can be monitored in Solver Manager When simulation is complete, Solver Manager now asks user whether to load the new solution in CFX-Post
Version 1.0
Turbo Report Templates for typical single bladerow components Reports can be used for multibladerow analyses by loading components individually

Version 1.0
User wants to go back to BladeGen and update design Manual steps for re-analysis: Update geometry in Meshing Application and regenerate mesh Reload the mesh file in CFX-Pre and rewrite def file Rerun solver Load new res file with existing report (state file) or reload report template
Version 1.0
Better control over meshing Interactive 3D graphics for easier visualization of model, results, etc. All the benefits of the latest CFX software (Pre/Solve/Post), e.g. real gas, turbulence models, parallel solver Easier to move from simple blade analysis to full CFX functionality, e.g. multi-bladerow, advanced physics, FSI
