ISO 14001 Environment

international standard that specifies a process for controlling and improving an organization's environmental performance ISO 14001 was published by international organization for standardization in 1996 Updated in 2005 ISO provides an outline for an EMS

ISO 14001

It provides a highly effective, globally accepted framework for establishing and continually improving the environmental management ISO 14001:2004 specifies requirements for an environmental management system to enable an organization to develop and implement a policy and objectives which take into account legal requirements and other requirements to which the organization subscribes, and information about significant environmental aspects.

What does the ISO 14001 standard require of firms?


Develop an environmental policy and public environmental statement Devise set of management practices to achieve environmental goals, including Prevention of pollution Continual environmental improvement Identify all environmental impacts, regulated and unregulated Develop an EMS scope of which may be broad or narrow (cover all facilities and activities or simply a few)
