Third -Year Bachelor in Elementary Education Students

IMPROVING EDUCATION PROGRAM IN BENEDICTO COLLEGE

Introduction:
Benedicto College, as a schools that goals

to provide quality education to the less privileged individuals, began offering Education program.

Inline to this, the school aims its graduates

to be: A role model for teachers, a model of values in school and in the community; As the torch giver for learners who shall acquire functional knowledge and competence; As an effective provider of teaching methods, principles and techniques in various levels of learning;

As an efficient trainer or facilitator for

students who will undertake researches in schools and communities; As an effective motivator or adviser equipped to meet the demands of the profession; and As a leader who can wholeheartedly demonstrate the right working attitude in a learning process especially exhibited during field work or practice.

In the school year 2008-2009, students

began enrolling on the education program of the school. There were three of them who are of the same time, student assistants of the school. The population began to grow and fortunately due to effective marketing of the school, it has multiplied to more than how it has started.

Being the schools soon-to-be graduates,

we also have considered suggesting some areas which we strongly believe could be of great help towards realizing the schools goals .
We have indicated few problems and cited

some possible solutions on its account.

Statement of the problem:


1. Teachers. Teachers are necessary to establish effective and memorable learning to students. In this regard, there are some teachers who are not capable to effectively impart wide range of learning.

2. Resources

2.1 Books/ materials for enhancement of learning The library is an open facility where any student is free to borrow and read books. However, its resources especially education books are limited, to the extent that we opted to find another source which is the internet services of the school, causing another problem on authenticity and reliability of the information.

2.2 Review materials The school library only has 1 LET reviewer which we also found out that it is not updated. It is also prohibited to be taken or borrowed out. Reviewers supposedly should help us revive our previous knowledge which will soon be useful in for our licensure examinations.

3. Curriculum
Considered as the life of the school, a curriculum is an integral factor that keeps a school to maintain its quality, reflecting its aim to produce globally competitive graduates. Subjects: Considering the schools growing population, the school tends to offer a subject which is general to all courses, evading the curricular offerings which are supposed to be taken by a particular program on that specific semester.

Prospectus Recent updates have been made to modify each institutions curricular offerings, adjacent to the needs of the society. On the other hand, the school is still following the 2009-2010 version, and on our research, other schools are now adopting pre-Ed subjects in the BEED curriculum, an edge for them to teach pre-elementary and elementary education after graduating.

4. Department Funds
Funds keep every organization effective and

functioning. It is an immediate resource for contingencies, and any expense a particular organization needs. Education department lacks funds, limiting its efficiency to carry out expenses in every activities.

Remediation:
Teachers.

Subject loads must be handed to teachers who are able to effectively inculcate, nurture, and impart learning with efficiency to students. The teacher handling the subject must be knowledgeable, and show mastery of the subject matter.

Resources:

Books/ materials for enhancement of learning The school must consider adding at least 3-5 books every semester to widen the resources of the library. It must also be contrived to the kind of book the teacher prefers to have. For example, our teacher in Educ3b uses a book under LORIMAR publication; thus, library resources must also be using the same publication.

Review materials

The school library must be updated with the more reliable review materials. This is to help the students aware and knowledgeable to the possible questions in LET. This is also for us to refresh on the previous lessons. The library must have at least 3-5 books of it. Reviewers about professional education is highly recommended.

Curriculum
Subjects:

The school should offer subjects which are supposed to be taken on a specific semester. This is to prevent students to advance subjects, and muddling subject offerings.

Prospectus

The school should be updated to every curricular innovation. We must not be left behind by any advancement; thus, the school ought to adopt changes and uphold quality education, relevant to the needs of the society.

Funds
We come up to an idea of having a

compulsory Php 50.00 collection per semester . This will then be the initial fund functional for every activity expenses and bulletin updates. This can also be an immediate resource for seminar registrations, and every school occasions.
