MEDICAL MANAGEMENT
Antibiotic Therapy oral penicillin -most common antimicrobial agent which is taken for 7 days Amoxicillin Erythromycin Antipyretic for fever Analgesic for pain

SURGICAL MANAGEMENT

TONSILLECTOMY Removal of the palatine tonsils

NURSING DIAGNOSIS
ACUTE PAIN RELATED TO SURGERY Nursing Interventions: *Identify causative factors that aggravate pain *Monitor Vital Signs *Assess pain scale *Provide comfortable environment *Put primary focus on non-verbal cues such as grimacing of face *Administer analgesics as prescribed *Encourage patient to communicate unrelieved pain

Risk for Aspiration related to bleeding in the operated area


Nusing Interventions: *Position the head of the patient to the side with the chin extended forward *Suction patient if needed *Monitor vital signs especially respiratory rate *Encourage patient to consume cold food (e.g., ice cream) to promote vasocontriction
