Study on ASEAN-India Dialogue Relations

Objectives of our study:

To Study the trade relationship between ASEAN & India To Study the Dialogue mechanism between ASEAN & India. To Find out the political and Security relationship between ASEAN & India.

Sanjay baru , business standard New Delhi: India is targeting a 40% jump in its trade with the Asean to $70 billion in 2012.Indias trade with Asean has grown to $50 billion in 2010 from $41 billion in 2009.wherin balance in trade is taken care of, The agreement mainly consists of exchange of tariff concessions by India and Asean countries. Allaying fears that the FTA will harm domestic agriculture, majority of the agriculture items are protected by placing them in exclusion of negative list where no tariff concessions are available to Asean countries. Items on the negative list include vegetables, fruits/nuts, spices, cereals/grains, oilseeds/oil, natural rubber and tobacco.1,297 products including 689 agriculture goods have been kept in the negative list. 2)Tai hui , mint India and the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) grouping expect to clinch their much-awaited trade agreement in services and investment by the end of this year.

3)Asean will benefit more from India FTA: Deloitte Press Trust of India / New Delhi March 02, 2011, 18:22 IST India's free trade agreement (FTA) with Asean will benefit the 10-nation bloc more, although it will provide greater competitive advantage to several Indian industries like textiles and pharma, according to Deloitte. FTA will increase the flow of goods; the net benefit for India would be in long run.

4)Harsh V Pant: India's 'Look East' policy gathers momentum


Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who had travelled to Japan and Malaysia for bilateral visits and to Vietnam for the 8th ASEAN-India Summit last November, has made it clear that his governments foreign-policy priority will be East and Southeast Asia, which are poised for sustained growth in the 21st century.
