OBJECTIVES:

Provide information support for managerial functions within the organization To make available, right information at right time and at lower cost Ensure that wrong and unwanted information is not generated; condition of data overload is avoided. Objectives of MIS are derived from companys objectives.

Each companies objectives should be reflected in at least one MIS objectives. MIS Objective calls for supporting contribution to meet companys goals Suppose the company wants to increase its market segment a from 10 per cent to 14 per cent per year, numerous information needs present themselves: a) How is the market currently allocated? b) What products did each competitor offer to get and hold its share of the market c) What are pros and cons of these products? d) To what customer set does each of these products appeal e) How much advertising is spent on each product f) In what state of product life cycle is in each product g) And so on .
