ABOUT FLYING LIZARD


Flying lizard or cekibar is a kind of reptile belonging to the tribe (family) Agamidae. Another lizard clan is still a chameleon and soa-soa (Hydrosaurus spp.). Real flying lizard excluding close relatives as well as the gecko lizards (Gekkonidae tribe).

ABOUT CEKIBAR VILLAGE


Cekibar village is flying lizard species that are often found in Java. These lizards are known by the scientific name of Draco volans Linnaeus, 1758. Its local name of which is cekibar (Betawi), hap-hap (Sunda), and celeret Gombel or klarap (Java). In English is called gliding or flying dragon lizards.

These animals began to spread from Thailand and the Malay peninsula in the west; in the northern Philippine Islands, Sumatra, Mentawai, Riau, Natuna, Borneo, Java, Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi, Maluku to the east.

CHARACTERISTICS
Lizard size is rather small, the total length to 200 mm. Patagium ('wings') in the form of an extension of six pairs of ribs are covered with skin. Patagium the upper side with yellow to orange color, stained black. The down side yellowish gray, with black spots.

CHARACTERISTICS
Head-bingkul berbingkul, sided-sided and wrinkly like old men; with a yellow chin sac (male) or bright blue (female), and a pair of leather sibir on both sides of the neck. Rigi coronet, is located on the back side of the head. Typical eye agamid lizard, with thick prominent lids.

CHARACTERISTICS
Dorsal (upper side of the body) is blackish brown or grayish, the colors can be changed into a darker or lighter when annoyed. Throughout the vertebrae (spine) there is a pattern of black spots that regularly lies: from the crown, back of head, neck, and then enlarged and turned into a brownish black half-circle pattern in the three dots on the back (dorsum) and one at the base of the tail . Such a color pattern is a good disguise in pepagan tree.

CHARACTERISTICS
Ventral (bottom side of the body) whitish-gray, slightly greenish in the medial side (the center line of the body); with brownish spots in the lateral direction (to the edge of the body). Tail about 1 times the length of the body; striped at the end, with the scales that make it seem stronger berlunas-sided terms.

HABIT OF FLYING LIZARD


Cekibar ordinary village found in the yard, gardens, secondary forest. Often these animals are observed to hunt insects in pepagan up to the tree branches. Sometimes cekibar migrate by way of 'fly', ie, jumping and flying from one tree to another tree. In the breeding season, often encountered with multiple males chasing a female in the same tree. Storing eggs in loose soil or humus near the base of the tree; females excavate the soil using a muzzle.
