Soft Limit Procedure for Mini Mill

Assumes limit switches are not installed on your machine. Step 1. Disable input switches except the E-stop switch Navigate to Ports and Pins

Step 1. Disable input switches except the E-stop switch

Disable all of these switches except the Estop switch

Navigate to Homing and limits

Input these numbers into the table. These will act as preliminary settings that will later be optimized.

Input these values into your table

Do not change your polarity settings, but copy all of the other settings in this table

You do not need to change these settings, either (home neg and auto zero)

No, go to your mini mill..


Jog your 3 axes in these directions: X-- table full to the right Y-- table full to the front Z-- full up

Now, go back to Mach3..


Click on Machine Coordinates A red border will show when selected

Click on Machine coordinates

Still on Mach3..
Click on Ref All Home Values in X,Y,Z will show 0 afterward. Your machine should not move.
Click on Ref All Home

No, go to your mini mill again.. Jog your machine to any location within the working envelope: Make it at least 2 inches from any hard stop.

Now, go back to Mach3..


Click on Machine Coordinates to return to working coordinates The red border will disappear

Click on Machine coordinates to deselect

Still on Mach3..
Click on Soft Limits to enable. A green border will appear around the switch (the green border does not show in the photo, but it will on your system if you are connected to your machine). Your soft limits are now enabled.
