The pump is a GAAM Mk 150 single stage centrifugal, driven by a 2 cylinder air cooled Lombardini diesel engine
Session 1:
Tanker Pump
The pump fuel tank has a capacity of 13 litres and is filled continuously when the truck engine is running. When the pump fuel tank is full, the overflow fuel is returned to the truck fuel tank.
The pump will run for approximately 4 hours on 13 litres of diesel.
Session 1:
A 30 litre fresh water tank is located on the roll over bar between the cabin and the bar.
The outlet is located on the near side of the tanker behind the 38mm outlet. Not to be used as drinking water!

Hand Throttle
Located on the lower section of the dash board to the right of the steering column. In order to maintain battery level, the hand throttle should be used to set the engine to a fast idle while training or on the fireground.
Note: Re-set the hand throttle to idle prior to driving the tanker as the exhaust brake will not operate while the throttle is set above idle.

Session 2:
Session 2:
Automatic Regeneration
The ECM automatically initiates the DPD regeneration process which burns the accumulated PM during a 3 to 30 minute cycle depending on the internal DPD filter temperature at the start of the process The driver is notified that DPD regeneration is in progress by a green lamp on the dash
Session 2:
Manual Regeneration
If the automatic regeneration process does not occur as a result of abnormal driving conditions, the driver is notified by a slow flashing orange lamp on the dash
This means the manual regeneration process is required at your earliest convenience
Session 2:
Manual Regeneration
To activate a manual regeneration process:
Pull over in a safe place, apply the hand brake and leave the tanker idling in neutral Press the DPD switch (mounted on the dash) and wait for around 20 minutes.
The orange lamp on the dash glows steadily and is extinguished when the regeneration process has finished. Then the tanker can be driven normally.
Session 2:
Manual Regeneration
If the slow flashing orange lamp is ignored it flashes faster indicating that you are urgently required to perform the manual regeneration process
Session 2:
Manual Regeneration
If the fast flashing orange lamp is ignored, then excessive accumulation of PM will eventually clog the filter and compromise its operation to reduce emissions As a result the Engine Control Unit will de-rate the engine to limp mode to reduce the amount of emissions it can produce and to protect the DPD from permanent and expensive damage Limp mode effectively means that only 40-50% of the engines power can be used. That is, your maximum driving speed would be reduced to somewhere around 40km/h
Session 2:
Manual Regeneration
The only way to retain full engine power (remove it from limp mode) is to have the truck returned to an Isuzu dealer (on a flat bed tray) so that they can physically pull apart the DPD, clean it and reset the ECM
The manual regeneration process can be interrupted if the tanker must be moved

Class A Foam Valve
Controls water flow from pump discharge to either: Pump by-pass Foam inductor
Session 2:
Indicator Lights
The Flush indicator light (orange) Illuminates when the pump ignition is turned on allowing water to flush the proportioner. Foam indicator light (red) When the metering valve is set to deliver foam, the Flush light will extinguish and the Foam indicator light will illuminate to indicate that foam is now being proportioned.
Edition 2.0 2009 OH 80 1.2.4D Light Tanker Isuzu NPS300 (4x4)
Session 2:
To Supply Foam
Ensure adequate supply of foam concentrate
Start pump and set pressure between 600 and 1000 kPa (Optimum 700 kPa). Do not exceed 1000 kPa Open branch to provide water flow through the pump and foam proportioner Ensure tank fill valve is closed. Do not open during foam production The Foam indicator light (red) will be illuminated. The drive water solenoid will be On for the entire duration of foam production Foam solution will circulate around the pump for branch/nozzle delivery
Edition 2.0 2009 OH 81 1.2.4D Light Tanker Isuzu NPS300 (4x4)
Session 2:
Shutting Down
With foam discharging from the branch, set the Quenchmaster foam percentage valve to the Off position Foam indicator light (red) will extinguish and the Flush indicator light (orange) will illuminate Flush the remaining water foam solution through the hoses until clear water shows at the branch Close branch and delivery lines Set the Class A foam valve to the Foam Off position Flush tanker reticulation system and all outlets (including front sprays) until clear water is observed Once tanker reticulation system has been flushed, operate the crew protection spray system in order to flush any foam solution out
[continued]
Edition 2.0 2009 OH 82 1.2.4D Light Tanker Isuzu NPS300 (4x4)
Session 2:
Shutting Down
Note: Every time the pump ignition is turned on, the Quenchmaster drive water solenoid will open allowing water to flush and lubricate the system Ensure the Quenchmaster foam proportioning valve is turned Off In the event that foam entered the water tank during firefighting/training operations, flush the water tank until free of foam
Session 2:
Foam Concentrate
Foam concentrate is stored in 2 x 20 litre carboys A single foam pick-up tube is connected to the carboy and supplies foam concentrate to the proportioning valve
Note: If the carboy lid is not a vented type, the lid must be unscrewed approx to 1 turn to allow air to enter the carboy. Failure to loosen the lid will result in a negative pressure forming in the container resulting in reduced concentrate flow to the proportioner
Edition 2.0 2009 OH 84 1.2.4D Light Tanker Isuzu NPS300 (4x4)
Session 2:
Session 2:
Pump Cooling
When the Class A foam valve is in the On position water being used by the branches provides cooling for the pump by providing a flow of water through the pump. During foam production, if branches are turned off, water stops flowing through the pump and as a result the pump may overheat. Note: When foam is being produced, branches should not be shut off for more than five minutes while the pump is operating. Damage to the pump seal is likely to occur after this time due to an increase of water temperature in the pump.
Edition 2.0 2009 OH 86 1.2.4D Light Tanker Isuzu NPS300 (4x4)
Session 2:
Pump Cooling
Class A foam valve
Foam Off position - water is circulated back to the water tank therefore providing pump cooling Foam On position - the pump by-pass line is closed and the water diverted to the foam inductor In this position there is no pump cooling capacity.
