Introduction
HCCI Engine is an attempt to fuse the merits of SI Engine
Induction of homogeneous premixed fuel charge in the cylinder as it would occur in SI engine. Auto-ignition compression combustion process as in CI engines.
Thus
,HCCI has the cleaner operation as in SI engine and has a better thermal efficiency like a CI engine would have.
combustion model of double Wiebe function is used to simulate the combustion process for the HCCI engine for prediction of pressure and temperature of combustion 3/21/13 33
parameters like such as engine geometry air-fuel ratio, manifold pressure and temperature, combustion duration.
During combustion phase, HCCI model employs only the
Wiebe-function option since a turbulent flame model has no role in HCCI combustion.
This model can be adapted to exercise a control over the
combustion process. The model is suitable for real time applications and gives fairly good results.
One of the shortcoming of this model is over prediction of
peak combustion pressure because of the sudden increase in pressure rate the model accelerates more than necessary.

The start of combustion temperature is modeled experimentally as a function of equivalence ratio . The combustion starts according the quality of mixture inducted.
For modeling purpose the crank angle at which the This is done by iterating the temperature as a function of
crank angle till the temperature of start of combustion is achieved and the corresponding crank angle is determined 3/21/13 77 and incorporated as a program parameter.

The maximum temperature reached was 1462 K Thus an attempt was made to model to combustion process. During the simulation it was observed that the equivalence
ratio greatly influences the model. However the model behaves erratically for certain equivalence ratio.
