The Definition Of Pyramid

Pyramid is a solid figure which is bounded by a polygonal base and number of triangles as its lateral faces which meet at a single point called apex. Limas adalah bangun ruang yang dibatasi oleh sebuah segitiga ataupun segibanyak sebagai alas dan beberapa bidang berbentuk segitiga sebagai bidang tegak yang bertemu pada satu titik puncak.

Pyramids are called by the shapes of their base

faces.

Triangular Pyramid

S=n+1

While S = side of pyramid n = the shapes of base face

Point Angle Of Pyramid

T=n+1

While T = point angle of pyramid n = the shapes of base face

The Part Of Pyramid

R = 2n
While R = edges N = the shapes of base face

Diagonal Planes In Pyramid

The diagonals planes in a pyramid are triangular in shape

2 : diagonal planes in pyramid : the shapes of base pyramids

Step 1
1. Draw the base face ABCD as parallelogram ABCD

Step 1

2.

Determine where O, the point of intersection of the base diagonals AC and BD, lies and then draw the line TO which is perpinducular to the base face ABCD

D O A B

Step 3
3. Draw the slanted edges TA, TB, TC and TD

Step 3

The Nets Of Triangular Pyramids

Surface Area of the Pyramid T.ABC = area of triangle ABC + area of triangle ABT + area of triangle BCT + area of triangle ACT = area of triangle ABC + (area of triangle ABT + area of triangle BCT + area of triangle ACT) = area of base face + total area of lateral faces

Thus to every pyramid the following formula applies :

SURFACE AREA OF PYRAMID = area of base + total area of lateral faces

Q A

a. Find the length of TP ! b. Find the surface area of the pyramid !

ANSWER
TP2 = TQ2 + QP2 = 122 + 52 12 = 144 + 25 = 169 5 TP = 13 Thus, the length of TP is 13 cm a.

ANSWER
b. Surface area of pyramid = A. Of the base + 4 x area of triangle TBC = (s x s) + [ 4 ( x BC x TP) = (10 x 10) + [ 4 ( x 10 x 13)] = 100 + [ 4 ( x 130) ] = 100 + ( 4 x 65 ) = 100 + 260 = 360 Thus, the surface area of pyramid is = 360 cm2

VOLUME OF PYRAMID
Figure in slide 26 shows a cube of edge length s whose four space diagonals intersect at a single point. The cube can be formed from six identical pyramid . The base face of each of those pyramid s is the base face of the cube and the height of each pyramid is a half the length of an edge of the cube.

VOLUME OF PYRAMID
If the volume of each pyramid in slide 26 is V then the total volume of six identical pyramids equals the volume of the cube, hence the following relation. Total volume of 6 pyramids = volume of cube 6V =sxsxs =(sxs)xs = ( s x s ) x s x 2 s x s = L and s = t =Lxtx2 6 V = 2 Lt V = 2 Lt V = 1/3 Lt 6

VOLUME OF PYRAMID
Therefore we can conclude that to very pyramid the following formula

13
13 cm 10 cm

a. Find out the height b. Find the volume of pyramids

ANSWER
a. t2 = 132 52 = 169 25 = 144 t = 12 Thus the height of pyramids is 12 cm

ANSWER
b. V = 1/3 Lt = 1/3 x ( 10 x 10 ) x 12 = 1/3 x 100 x 12 = 1/3 x 1200 = 400 So, the volume of pyamid is = 400 cm3
