SCHOOL MAGAZINE FRONT COVER

At the start of the media course I designed my school magazine front cover the main article of my school magazine is featured on the front cover to show the readers and buyers what sort of articles are entailed in my magazine I based my magazine upon the idea of backfence talk also known as gossip I chose to base it upon gossip as I thought the pupils of Hamstead Hall would be more interested in the on goings of different friendship groups rather than past summer exam results and the new healthy food available in the canteen.

Whilst creating my magazine we was still yet focusing on developing our knowledge on the different conventions which are found with in a magazine and what sort of photography is used and why. On my front cover I have used a few of the magazine conventions such as the Masthead,Pugs,Skylines,Selllines ,Barcode and a logo looking back at my school magazine front cover after completing the course I have used very basic conventions in comparison to my final Music magazine.

SCHOOL MAGAZINE
An advantage of this task would be that I was able to use the software quit confidently due to years of experience also I was familiar with the different camera angles an shots before participating in the task making me an opportunist to the group as I knew of what exactly we needed to do when taking these image A disadvantage of this task would be I would have liked to have used a more complex software when creating my school magazine this being because I am now quite comfortable using softwares such as Fireworks and Photo Shop which would have developed my front cover making my front cover look more professional.

In comparison to my final front you can see a clear contrast of the conventions I did not use on my school magazine front cover as there was more magazine conventions which I could of used on my school magazine

and therefore in cooperated these on to my final music magazine cover

alongside the fact of using a much more reliable software when creating a magazine front cover as I could apply specific measurements for accuracy for when doing a print preview the trouble with doing this on Microsoft word is I may lose text and the alignment of the text may not be precise.

MAIN FOCUS OF THE MAGAZINE ARTICLE WITH A IMAGE OF THE ORIGINAL TLC GROUP AS THE BACKGROUND IMAGE.

Unfortunately I had spent many weeks creating this front page of my music magazine using secondary images under the influence there was no difference using primary images however later on I found out more marks would be

awarded for using primary sources.

MASTHEAD

MASTHEAD

PRIMARY IMAGE CHANGED ORIGINAL NAME TLC TO TLS.

After feedback on how to improve my front cover I had changed all of my images by doing my own photography using people from my age demographic of 16-25 years old also I decided to change the contrast and theme of all my

images and background of my front cover.

To make my music magazine front cover I used the Photoshop c56 software as it is
more compatible than Microsoft word when publishing and editing our own magazine . I chose to go for a very simplistic / original reasons for this is because my magazine drama is based on the magnificent classics of the 90s genre focusing on the artists who brought love and their life stories into their passion of singing the colours I have used on my front page compliments this as they are pure and calm . Feedback: Your front cover looks very enticing however the colours you have used for your skyline does not compliment the rest of your front page as it does not fit into your colour as they may be a little too deep .

Improvement: under the assumption of the feedback I was given I was going to act on this and change the colours of my sky line however further on in to the course nearest to deadline I was told I needed to in cooperate more primary images in response to this I therefore changed the original image of TLC into my own renamed as TLP for copyright purposes.

PRIMARY IMAGES I PLAN TO USE ON MY FRONT COVER AND DPS.

Once again my magazine contents page is very simplistic due to the software I chose to use his limited and effected the graphics and positioning of my texts and images however creating this contents page became an flat

plan for my final contents page as I had an idea of the layout of my contents
this then gave me more time to think about the layout of my DPS as I already had a clear idea of how and what I would like my front cover and Contents page to look like .

MAIN FEATURE OF THIS MONTHS ISSUE(TLS).

After getting use to the Photoshop software on my front cover I was able to come to terms of the different tools when creating my contents page I was able to finish this task quicker than my front cover in comparison to my school

magazine contents page you can see a clear distinction as to the conventions
being more noticeable on both contents pages.

I created this Double page spread on Microsoft word I had spent quite a lot time creating this DPS. When starting the task of creating my double page spread I intended on doing a biographical story on one side of the double page spread and three advertisements on the other however unaware after completing the advert side of my Double Page Spread I was told the Double Page Spread has to be created and completed on Photoshop C56. On the left hand side of my Double Page Spread I have written my own article based on a singing artist in a girl band during the 90s this unfortunately had to be taken off .After adjusting my Double Page Spread I was fortunately able to fit on one advert I chose to use my advert on hair dressing using primary images of my self representing that work field. I chose to do a hairdressing advert as it advertises the highlights of the 90s braids fashion which is still worn today .
